He lives!!! This little guy had an extremely hard entry into the world. All started when Mark came back from the hay field… As I’m finishing watering everyone he asks if I’ve checked on Oreo. Of course, I fed, watered, and checked sheep about 20-30 mins ago. As he’s walking towards the house he checks on her again. Next thing I hear is “your sheep has a baby hanging out of her”
Sure as hell Oreo has a head and 1 leg hanging out. I grab the nearest thing, an old leadline (I like to keep them on gates just in case). Unfortunately can’t catch her as she is extremely stressed. Oh, did I mention she is a first time mom! So Mark grabs a gate and we make an alley and pen her up.
This little lamb was stuck and not breathing. There was no pushing him back in to get the other leg. I finally pulled and maneuvered him enough to feel his other shoulder, but could not muscle the leg out. So Mark tried, same issue. It’s now time to just get the lamb out, so Mark just pulls. Out he pops.
Now there is a great livestock saying “It ain’t dead till it’s warm and dead” Well Mark thumps that chest and to our surprise this little lamb started breathing!!! Oreo started cleaning ❤️ We were quite worried that she may reject due to the stress. Both are doing great! Say hello to Ichabod 😁❤️😂
And before anyone comes after me…yes I removed the leadline!
