🌱 TODAY!! Melinda Busby and Demi Wells will be at the Hammond Farmers & Artisans Market from 8-12 with all of our products along with pork from Local Cooling Farms 💚 🐖

Travis Zito will be at the Gretna Marketplace from 8:30 - 12:30 fully restocked on pork! 🥓

And I will be over at the Firefly Under the Moon Market in St. Gabriel TONIGHT from 4-8 with the incomparable A&A Acres 🍗

It’s not a bad gig to be a pig at Rose Wagon Ranch ☀️🐖🌱

We are in full swing these days. We’ve got pigs being finished for processing, growers out on pasture, piglets being weaned, and sows about to farrow new ones! It never stops and that’s the way we like it.

We are proud to produce healthy pork for our community. Thank y’all for supporting us and our local food system.

“You are not what you eat - you are what you eat eats.” - Omnivore’s Dilemma 🌱

Part of being regenerative means putting back more than we take. We grow Microgreens every week for markets and restaurants. Afterwards, we’re left with the trays that didn’t sell, cut trays, and lots of dirt. In an effort not to waste anything we give the chickens the leftover and cut trays. This gives us a NUTRIENT PACKED chicken egg! 🍳

We dump the trays in the coop. The soil mixes in with the rabbit and chicken manure and waste. The soil captures nitrogen and keeps the coop a hospitable environment for our chickens and rabbits. Later, we can then use this as compost in our gardens!

We get to use the soil 3 times! That’s the closed loop farming food system. 🔄
