My dad Ted grew the most amazing garden. That is where I learned to appreciate a good garden. I do not have rows as straight or tidy and w**d free, but I try. He left us 8 years ago this spring at the age of 90! We miss you and carry you with us always in our daily tasks. Here is a photo of Ted with his giant radish that he grew and was featured in the local newspaper.

Good Morning, We are working hard here at The Farm getting ready for the opening of our Farm Stand. JoJo has had her creative hat on all winter and spring, painting her amazing little Kick Stand Art. Here is a sneak peak at the ones she has completed so far. They will be for sale at The Stand and at only $20 each they make great gifts!

Which are your favorite three?

Good Morning, Spring planting is going well here on The Farm. Round 1 has been direct sowed and is now sprouted including peas, carrots, beets, lettuce, salad mix, choys, chard, kale, onion, garlic, potato, green beans, cabbage, radish, salad turnips, tomatoes, cukes and peppers. Now it is just a matter of keeping the bunnies, voles, other pests and w**ds at bay.

Round two will be transplanting our starts of squash, zukes, herbs, more greens and onions. The starts are also sprouted and will be ready to plant out in about 10 days.

The Farm Stand will be open mid June.

Just wanted to say "Thank You!" to everyone who came to help us process our meat chickens. We had quite the crew, even some of Kaiden's classmates showed up to help pluck feathers.

It was a successful endeavor. We have never been interested in raising the standard meat chicken Cornish Cross. They grow too quickly and can not reproduce and often die of a heart attack or some other genetic issue before they are 5 months old. A year ago in March of 2025 I started researching what breed would fit our criteria. The breed would need to be able to reproduce itself, have good conformation and vigor, and able to grow to a respectable size carcass in about 6-7 months vs the 3 month CC. We decided to try out the American Bresse.

They are beautiful birds and taste great! The leg meat is really dark, maroon in color, lots of flavor. The breast meat is tasty just a lot smaller ratio than the CC. But we were expecting this. I think we can make some adjustments in feed inputs and timing to get a little more breast meat on the birds. But for our first go round we are pleased. We retained 12 hens and 3 roosters for breeding another batch for the fall. The hens have been really good layers so far.

Thought we would share a few photos from butcher day. And of Todd's fancy chicken dinner he made Coq Au Vin. He almost caught the kitchen on fire!
