lso has a microbakery and does bakery bread drops, and also dabbles in homesteading🍞🥚 Pheeeewwww!! God Bless America 🇺🇸
Long story.....
We are Jeff, Hannah, Langley and Remee. Jeff is in the Air Force, has his day job working in the Johnson County area and does all of L+R's stuff in his "spare" time. Hannah spends her time taking care of our 2 rambunctious girls who our business is named after, planning stuff around the farm and adding more work for Jeff, taking care of most of the social media platform, does 75% of the baking and tries to keep adding more and more work! Langley and Remee are learning so much by living out in the country and being on our little mini farm. If they had it their way, we would have cows, pigs, goats, horses and the first Anamosa Zoo with ALL of the animals...

We started this mini farm as a way to live a cleaner lifestyle and it has blown up to extending it to others who want to live the same way but may not have the time or space to do it themselves. We don't always live the cleanest healthiest lifestyle but we try to do everything in moderation and keep a healthy balance. Thank you for following us, joining our adventures and helping support our small business.

It was a sad but happy day at our mini farm today! We are thankful for the time we got to spend with Skye but sad our house wasn’t the right fit for her.
Today she met her new family that has 3 other fur puppies, 2 donkeys, chickens and will be getting 2 pot bellied pigs. We hope she enjoys her new home, all of the farm animals she has to look over, and the new family that is going to love her.
We will miss you Skye and can’t wait to see pictures of you loving your new home💕

Today Remee and Jeff picked up our 2nd batch of meat chickens. We’re hoping and praying this batch does much better than the first batch.
Even though we’re not particularly liking this cooler weather, it has been providing a lot of relief for the pastured chickens with the gnat situation right now. 🙌🏻

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions for the pasture raised meat chickens. We are still losing some but at a much slower rate. But unfortunately we think that is due to them pecking at their gnat bites they had received before we had gone to the measures we are now taking. Wooosah! Deep breaths. We have more chicks arriving the end of this week and we have plans to do things a little differently in case the gnats are still as horrible as they were when these chicks went out to the pasture. 😔

Now for the good news! 🍞🍞🍞🍞 Bread for this week!

- Original $10
- Everything $12
- Chocolate Chip $12
- Blueberry Cream Cheese $14
- 🧀CHEEEEEESE Bread 🧀 $14

✏️✏️Send us a message or just comment by tomorrow night at 8pm!

📍📍Pick up will be on Saturday morning from 10-12 here at the farm .

Some days, small business farming feels really heavy.

Lately, everywhere we go, people are talking about how awful the gnats are this year. Unfortunately, our pasture chickens are feeling the effects in the worst way possible. During meat chicken season, these tiny pests are literally eating our birds alive. We’ve been trying everything we can think of — high-powered fans in the field, DIY sprays with vanilla and peppermint, extra monitoring and care — but right now, there’s a chance our first batch of 80 chickens could be a total loss.

And truthfully… moments like this hurt.

Pasture poultry farming as a small business was never about getting rich. The margins are small. It’s hard work, and pouring your heart into raising quality food for your own family and for families in your community. When things go right, the reward is knowing exactly where your food came from and being proud to share it with others.

But when challenges like this hit, after all the time, effort, and investment… you can’t help but ask yourself, is it really worth it?

Then again… I really don’t want to go back to eating grocery store chicken 😂🐓

Just some honest rainy Monday morning thoughts from our little farm. Farming is beautiful, rewarding, exhausting, heartbreaking… and sometimes all of those things at once. We’ll try to keep showing up and doing our best for these birds. ❤️

Skye found herself a new little “friend” in her territory this morning 🐢😂 Apparently, a turtle decided Skye’s hangout spot was the perfect place to lay her eggs 🤔

We’ve been in contact with a DNR officer to figure out the best way to handle the situation, but for now… Skye has been relocated to a different hangout spot 😅
