3:30 AM alarm. No complaints. π
Day 1 on a new boat with a crew that's been running this operation together for 5-10 years β and I'm the new guy trying to keep up.
We baited skates, set three lines, and waited. Then came time to haul... and I lost my first halibut right off the hook while the whole crew watched. π Paul (the deck boss) stepped in and showed me how it's actually done.
By the end of the day? 4,000 lbs of monster halibut. ~$40,000 worth of fish.
Oh, and Rhett cooked French toast, bacon, and eggs in the morning and burgers with tater tots for dinner. Turns out I eat better on a commercial fishing boat than I do at home ππ
This is Day 1. It only gets more intense from here.
