HELP! We need more part-time people to join our Blue Crew as retail specialists in the front of house.

We have TWO POSITIONS available:

1) WEEKDAYS: 20 to 32 hours a week, 5-8 hours/day over 4 days. This schedule could be perfect for a parent with kids in school, you can start after dropoff and be able to pick up at the end of the school day!

2) WEEKENDS: 6-8 hours per weekend shift, 2 to 4 shifts per month.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about Alaska -grown and -made foods and products and about reducing waste. Also energetic, engaging, collaborative and able to lift 50 lbs.

The HARVEST abundance right now in the shop is soooo freaking beautiful!!! At least 11 different Alaskan farmers are represented on our produce cart and in our produce fridge!!! (Note many of them are from Grown North Farms, a cooperative farming program organized by FIG for our refugee friends and families) Grow North Farmers Market

Pssst... POPUPS ALERT! We have a number of fun popups this month, from handmade olive oil & seaweed soaps THIS SATURDAY 10/10 to delicious baked goods on 10/17 & 10/24 to a CLOTHING SWAP on 10/18!

It's so fun to see what creative Alaskans come up with. We have created this space to be a place for you to explore selling something you make or grow, without a lot of pressure. We have seen Alaskans learn how to price and label their products by popping up in the shop and getting feedback, and then move on to larger venues with confidence :)

Celebrate the Harvest and Our Beautiful Alaskan Fall! After School or Work
*THIS FRIDAY* Oct. 9th from 2-7pm!
- local farmers produce & eggs (Nancy's Alaska Farm Products, Common Root AK, AyurlifeCare Alaska, Grown North Farms, and FIG (Fresh International Gardens) with their famous garlic ropes!
- locally-made chai concentrate by Logan - authentic, high-quality masala chai tea concentrate, meant to be mixed at home with milk or water, sweetened or sugar-free, and a non-caffeinated variant with rooibos tea instead of black tea. In mason jars!
- Common Root ferments and Salves Mary-Ellen's hyper-local probiotic foods and herbal goods salves and chaga tea contribute to the growth of Alaska's food and farming community. Made from locally grown organic produce sourced from small farms and wild foraged plants (Pay What You Can)
- AyurLifeCare Alaska ayurvedic teas, oils, salves, golden milk, and snacks - herbal teas, green tea blends, unique chai blends, medicinal cacao blends, medicated oils and salves, and three ayurvedic golden milk blends. Also delicious Ojas balls and kicuri mix.
- Denielle Baldwin, artist will be "painting" with repurposed paint scraps - and her works are for sale inside the shop
- Maddy G Makes Art: Rewild Your Clothes! Madison Grosvenor's wonderful original block printing - sold on repurposed clothing and other items (her pick, or yours - yup, bring your clothes and purchase one of Maddy's custom block prints, she will print them on the spot)
- Eat Dirt: Art by Newt Newt dabbles in many mediums: wood, paper arts, block prints, jewelry - come see their unique creations
- hot c***r made by Beachtribe Sodaworks - pressed from Alaskan apples (please bring a mug!) and hot cocoa made by us Blue Market AK
- our octopus bottle cap mural community artwork will be out, contribute to this fantastic mural that will keep hundreds of bottle caps out of the oceans and landfill!
- service DOGS and their trainers!! from Paws for Purple Hearts
- carrot cake cookies (of course, tis the season) - as well as the other usual foods we have in the store
- and maybe some sort of apple-y game 🙂

When you think of a refillery, there are probably a few obvious things that come to mind. But at Blue Market AK, you might be surprised by just how many everyday staples you can refill.

Here are just a few you may not expect:

We carry favorites from local Taco Loco, including salsa, tortillas and chips.
Bring your containers and bags from home and refill them instead of starting over with new packaging.

Pasta is another one! Bring in that pasta container or bag and fill it back up. We carry dry local pasta from Rosie’s Pasta, plus fresh pasta from Alaska Pasta Company.

Your pantry can get in on the refill action, too. Think organic molasses, local honey, maple syrup, organic oils and other everyday pantry staples.

Rice? We’ve got plenty. Choose from lots of different varieties and take home as much or as little as you need.

And don’t forget the laundry room. Laundry detergent can be refilled, along with other household cleaning essentials like dish soap and general household cleaners.

The best part?

You don’t need special containers to get started. Reuse the jars, bottles, plastic containers and bags you already have at home.
Bring them in, fill them up, and keep them in use a little longer.
