I started farming full time 4 years ago with a main vision in mind. Increasing food security in our local communities. This was after the peak of Covid which brought a greater attention to the need of local food growers. My family had also gone through a loss in which we found healing through amending soil and growing real food. Food that has a real impact on benefiting your health.

We are in the middle of our second season and i am grateful for how much we have learned and that we have been able to show up to the farmers market every week with something to offer. That said I have so many goals for the farm and so much more to learn. With I’ll be able to take a deep dive this fall into the many areas needed to run and grow a successful farm. We currently growing our garden space and our team and are always seeking to grow our education in the field and at the market.

The Market Gardener Institute is the top online school for market gardeners and I am so very excited for the opportunity for scholarship. Thank you JM Fourier and team for the opportunity 🙏.

My wife Julie has done an amazing job taking on the challenging task of growing edible and cut flowers in our hot climate. She is crushing it in her first year taking on 100% of the responsibilities; planning, prepping beds, seeding, weeding, watering, harvesting, and arranging bouquets. We only sell what we grow and we never spray or till. Can’t beat the long case life from local flowers!

Show her some love this weekend and come grab a bouquet this Saturday at the Redding farmers market (behind Redding City Hall) 7:30-noon.

Pleurotus citrinopileatus, the golden oyster mushroom, is a tropical mushroom species gf native to eastern Russia, northern China, and Japan. They have delicately beautiful cluster which have a rich umami flavor with hints of cashew when sautéed.

Pleurotus citrinopileatus, the golden oyster mushroom, is a tropical mushroom species native to eastern Russia, northern China, and Japan. They have delicately beautiful cluster which have a rich umami flavor with hints of cashew when sautéed.

Our Mushrooms made the cover!! If you’ve picked up a winter copy of magazine you might have recognized these King trumpet mushrooms 😉

Local illustrator Susan Meade did a phenomenal job capturing the fine details of these mushrooms. Drawing lions mane is essentially challenging but the drawings turned out wonderful!
