Hey friends! It’s been a minute (or two 🫣) since I’ve popped into this space. I hope you’ve had a great winter…spring is just around the corner! 🌱

Many of you have been checking in for updates on the farm and the upcoming asparagus season. We are so thrilled to be able to introduce you to the new farm owner…Two Sisters Homestead! Susan Shelton and Sarah Derrick (sisters!) have been long time supporters of this little farm and we are thrilled that it is now in their hands. We know they will love and cherish it going forward. 🫶

Be sure to jump over and like their new page, Two Sisters Homestead, so that you stay in the loop with all their plans and offerings. I’ll post a few more times and keep this page active for only a bit longer, so be sure to connect with them as soon as possible.

Enjoy this spring-like weather! ~ Joy 🌻

We picked a final bucket of flowers and a crate of Greg’s favorite tomatoes and drove away from our little farm for the final time this last weekend. Our hearts are full and we are excited for both our future and that of the new owner!

We can’t wait to see what’s next for this special space. Stay tuned, as we’ll be sharing the new owner’s business page (once created) and encouraging you to support them as you have so faithfully done for us these last 12 years. We couldn’t be more thankful for the support of this community and for the friendships we’ve made along the way. Thanks for giving our family a great 12 years on this little farm. ~ Joy 🌻🫶

Memorial Day is right around the corner and the spring farm stand will only be out a few more days (through Tuesday, May 26th). Be sure to grab a bunch of asparagus for your holiday plans and snag the remaining pepper and tomato starts! 🌶️🫑🍅

Like many of you, our weekend is bursting with activity. Our second daughter, Lena, graduates from high school this weekend and we’ll be racing around soaking it all in. 😍 🎓If you’ve been to the farmer’s market over the years, you’ve likely seen Lena working right along side me. She’s been my weekly market helper since she was 7 years old and can run a market table better than I can (because she can do math in her head and make change faster! 🤩). This girl is 99% me but blessed with Greg’s smarts. She’s full of s***k and driven to succeed…we couldn’t be prouder of her as she launches into the next phase of life. She’s off to Washington and Lee University this fall and we can’t wait to visit her in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. You are so loved, Lena-bear!

And, Luke gets the award for weirdest piece of asparagus harvested this week! 🏆 We gotta entertain ourselves somehow during asparagus season…. 😅

Enjoy your weekend, friends! ~ Joy

Week 4 of asparagus and we’re still harvesting BIG amounts daily! The field is producing such a pretty product this year - it’s been easy harvesting and we’ve still got smiles on our faces! 😊

Part of those smiles might have to do with the fact that we’re gearing up for the next stage of our family life. The last 12 years has been spent growing (literally!) this farm into the special space it is today. We’ve loved raising our kids here and the life we’ve created, but we’re ready to pass it all on to the next person or family who will cherish it as we have. Our little farm will be going up for sale in the next few weeks. If you’ve ever dreamed of having your own special space, we’d love to connect with you. Please send us a direct message for more info. 🏡🐓👩‍🌾

In the meantime, the spring farm stand will be open for another couple of weeks! Asparagus, rhubarb, plant starts, local honey and more are available on the honor system. Open daily from dawn to dusk. Cash or Venmo payment only. 3840 W. 38th St. Anderson.

Enjoy your weekend! ~ Greg, Joy, Lila, Lena, and Luke Beghtel

Happy Spring!

Facebook is telling me it’s been over 100 days since my last post…woops! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Life is moving fast and I’m always working to keep up with it!

Several years ago I read a book called “A Farm Dies Once a Year”. The book really wasn’t great, but the title stuck with me. I took from the book the idea that each spring we get to choose what our farming life will look like. The last several years we’ve worked hard on increasing our flower production and adding events at the farm. This year, we’re scaling back and giving ourselves more flexibility in our schedule. Time with our teenagers is at a premium right now and I don’t want to miss any of it!

For the first time in 12 years, we won’t be attending any farmer’s markets and are looking forward to Saturday’s at home this spring. BUT, we’ll make sure you still have access to our fresh asparagus and rhubarb (isn’t it so pretty coming up right now?). At the beginning of May, the spring farm stand will be out on our property with vegetable and herb starts, asparagus, and local honey. We’re also working with local farming friends to make sure our asparagus gets to some local farmer’s markets…we’ll keep you posted as we finalize details.

Until then, we’re working on tidying up our space and clearing some things out. We’ll be hosting a multi-family barn sale (lots of hardware and lawn equipment - a great sale for guys!) this coming Thursday & Friday from 8am-4pm. Come say ‘hi’ if you’re in our area! ~ Joy
