A special order bouquet that went out today. 💐

I always enjoy making these. If you're looking for fresh, locally grown flowers, I offer special order bouquets with farm pickup. Just give me at least 48 hours' notice so I can harvest and create something beautiful.

🌱 As for the farm... planting is temporarily on hold. This week I'm trading my flower fields for church decorations as we get ready for VBS. We'll be decorating on Wednesday, and then it's right back to planting.

I still have a LOT of dahlias waiting to go in the ground, so I'll be spending plenty of time in the field once VBS is ready. It's a busy season, but a good one.

Thanks for following along as you get a glimpse of both the flowers and the life behind the farm. 🌸

June in Ohio is always a bit of an awkward transition on the flower farm. The peonies are saying goodbye while my summer annuals are just beginning to bloom.

I may not have a huge variety quite yet, but the flowers I do have are absolutely beautiful!

This is my first bulk bucket of the season, picked fresh this morning. These blooms are headed out to become bud vases for a good friend's graduation party. It's always an honor to play a small part in someone's special day.

Our bulk buckets are available throughout the season and are filled with the freshest, best blooms we have at the time. They're perfect for:
🌸 Bridal showers
🎓 Graduation parties
💐 Bouquet bars
👰 DIY weddings
🎉 Any celebration that could use beautiful, locally grown flowers

I'm so excited that I decided to grow a portion of my flowers at home again this year!

Ever since we bought the farm, we've planted almost everything there. The soil is amazing, but it also came with a few challenges. The farm is about 15 minutes from our house, which meant a lot of driving back and forth. Until this year, we also didn't have water at the farm, making it even more time-consuming.
I really missed looking out my windows and seeing flowers blooming in my own yard.

This year, I planted all of my Bouquet of the Month flowers at home. It'll save me a lot of travel time during harvest, and I get to enjoy the blooms every day.

I also planted my dahlia tuber stock for future sales here at home. Since disease can spread from plant to plant—and even be unintentionally spread by visitors in a you-pick field—keeping my tuber stock separate from the you-pick gives me greater confidence in the quality of the tubers I'll be selling. It's an extra step that many dahlia growers take, and one I feel is worth it.

Any dahlias that grow in the you-pick will simply stay at the farm and be replanted there next season.

As an added bonus, having flowers growing at home has us even considering a small roadside flower stand in New Lyme this year! 🌸 No promises just yet, but it's something we're excited to explore.

It's the best of both worlds: beautiful flowers at home, a thriving farm, and hopefully healthier tubers for all of you!

Do you apologize when you're wrong?

I try to.

James 1:19–20 says, "Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness that God desires."

I let my anger get the better of me this weekend. It was ugly. I've since apologized for my tone, but the damage was done. An uncomfortable situation was made worse, and there's really no way to undo that.

It did lead to some great conversations with my kids. I'm always telling them that two people can be wrong at the exact same time in a situation. Somehow, it was much easier for them to recognize that when I was one of the people who was wrong instead of themselves. 🤣

But really, I'm glad they saw me own my mistake. I want them to see what taking responsibility looks like instead of making excuses or deflecting blame. Kids need to see adults admit when they're wrong and ask for forgiveness.

I'm thankful God is gracious. Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that His mercies are new every morning. I'm so thankful for that truth. His grace doesn't excuse my sin, but it does remind me that failure isn't the end of the story. My heart is right with God again, and I'll move forward from here.

If you're in the middle of your own mistakes today, remember this: they don't have to be the end of your story. God is still in the business of redeeming, restoring, and changing lives. He can change your story too.

Sometimes the pictures my husband takes leave me shaking my head!

Photography may not be his strong suit, but I'm incredibly thankful for everything else he does. Over the past couple of weeks, he's hauled our tractor, tiller, and bed maker back and forth between our home and the farm multiple times!

It takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work to get a flower farm ready for the season, and he's always willing to jump in and help wherever needed.

What a guy. ❤️🚜🌸

A little flower farm update—I've been a bit quiet lately because we're deep in planting season. Between long days in the field and working as a PT again, life has been wonderfully full and busy.

I'm still delivering peony bouquets to my Bouquet of the Month Club members as the blooms mature. One of the beautiful things about peonies is that they don't all bloom at once, so the bouquets roll out over several weeks as each variety reaches its peak.

I truly thought this would be the year I'd have extra peonies to share beyond my Bouquet of the Month subscriptions. Unfortunately, a late hard freeze did more damage than I initially realized. Buds that appeared to have survived have slowly succumbed to bud blast, and I've ended up losing nearly half of this year's crop.

While it's certainly disappointing, I'm grateful to still have enough blooms for my subscription members. Farming is always an exercise in patience and perspective, and peonies are especially a long game. They become more productive with each passing year and can thrive for nearly 100 years. I always joke with my kids that the peonies are their inheritance—but honestly, there might be some truth to that.

For now, I'm focusing on the blooms we do have, counting my blessings, and looking forward to what next year will bring. 🌸💕
