We had a wonderful time this weekend at the Sunflower Doe Down Dairy Goat Show in Salina!
This was our third year attending, and it's always an incredibly fun & educational opportunity for us! A huge thank you to the Varners for putting together another fantastic event. Running two rings with different judges is no small task, and everything was organized, welcoming, and enjoyable from start to finish.
As for our girls:
Nynaeve, 3rd freshener:
2nd and 3rd LaMancha 4 years & under 5. I was also very excited that both judges mentioned her incredible udder capacity & noted she must be an outstanding producer (20.2 # peak this year)
Egwene, 1st freshener:
1st and 4th in LaMancha 2 years & under 3
Verin, 1st freshener:
didn't place, but gained valuable ring experience and was beautifully shown by Amy Schweizer while I was showing Egwene. Verin still has a lot of maturing to do yet and we are excited to see how she fills out and her udder matures later into this 1st lactation. We were very proud of how well behaved she was with such limited ring experience.
We're proud of all three girls and grateful for a fun weekend spent with fellow goat friends. One of the best parts of the show was catching up with Egwene & Moiraine’s breeder, Tule Creek Farms - Lee & Carey Bartram. It was exciting to watch Carey’s success in both rings today. She bred all of the top 4 does selected in Egwene's class in both rings and she also won Best of Breed LaMancha in both rings!!Congratulations, Carey! And congrats to our friend, Samantha @ Bluestem Acres, for winning Reserve Nubian! Thank you again to everyone who helped make the show such a success! We’re already looking forward to next year!
