I guess the sheep are picking sides, and they're going big red! We just signed up to donate at the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive with Andover Fire-Rescue. Andover, come cheer them on and save some lives while you're at it!

We finally got to meet Willow and Hemlock 🖤🤍

These two fluff butts were born a couple months ago at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead from Carlily Farms ewes Katniss and Ashley, who along with CERN and Lexus have been on loan there as part of their working farm exhibit. We couldn't wait any longer, so we made the trip to Overland Park. Worth every mile!

You can just tell when animals are loved. Willow and Hemlock are thriving, and that is a testament to Sarah and the entire Deanna Rose team who pour their hearts into that place every single day. So grateful to them, and to the City of Overland Park, Kansas Government and Friends of Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead for continuing to nurture something truly special for Kansas families.

Our girls have clearly found the best summer camp in Kansas! We'll be bringing them home at the end of the season. ☺️

If Deanna Rose isn't on your family's summer list yet, add it. It's a genuinely special place, well beyond just getting to visit our Valais Blacknose sheep (though they are very cute and very worth it).

We've been doing a lot of thinking about the direction of Carlily Farms this spring, and part of that means being honest about what our 12 acres can sustainably support. We're intentionally significantly scaling back our flock and working to place several animals in the right homes.
Up for placement: a registered F4 ram, F1 ewes, and wethers from both our 2025 and 2026 lamb crops. VBSS registration information is in the pictures.
A little context on the wethers: Valais crosses don't need to be destined for the freezer to be worth raising. These boys would make phenomenal pasture companions or pet sheep, and our 2026 wethers in particular are exceptionally friendly and social. If you've ever wanted a fluffy, good-natured sheep that actually wants to be around people, these are your guys.
If any of them catch your eye, reach out. I'd love to see them land somewhere they'll be appreciated.

Carlos almost sent me this post just to say "look how cute" before he realized she's our lamb 🤣 Willow, her mom Katniss, and a few of our other Valais Blacknose sheep are on loan to Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead for the season from Carlily Farms. We haven't even met her yet and she's already going viral. 🐑🖤 Field trip to Deanna Rose soon!

Legend has it there's a face under all that fluff. Come visit and let us know if you actually manage to find it! 🐑 👀

This is a bittersweet post.

Two months ago, we lost our Kaia. Our dog. Our farm dog. THE dog.

For those who knew her — she was the soul of Carlily Farms. She greeted everyone, patrolled the property, kept watch over the sheep and the pigs and the bees. She was just... always there. And then suddenly, she wasn't. She got out of the farm and was struck by a car. We got to her within minutes, but lost her on the way to the vet. It happened so fast. We're still grieving. We don't think that fully goes away.

But there's someone else in this story who lost her too. Doodle — our other Great Pyrenees, Kaia's devoted companion, her self-appointed bodyguard. He followed her everywhere. And over the last two months, we watched him slowly fall apart. Laying around. Sad. Grieving in his own quiet way. Pyrenees do better in pairs, and Doodle was not okay without his companion.

So even though we weren't ready, we started looking. For a new companion for Doodle. For a new guardian of the farm. For a new member of our family. We found her, and she made quite the entrance — flying home to Wichita on a small plane, ear muffs and all.

Everyone, meet Khaleesi — Kali for short. She is fluffy, she is curious, and she has absolutely no idea how much joy she is already bringing to Carlily Farms. We know she'll grow up to be fierce, powerful, protective, and a guardian of those she loves. Right now she's just figuring out her ear muffs.

We are welcoming her not to fill a hole that can never be filled, but to honor Kaia, to love Doodle well, and to let our hearts keep moving forward — even while they're still healing.

Kaia, this one's for you. 🌻
