Sometime ago I proved one can actually boil a brownie in the microwave. Interesting, to be sure.

Today I proved that using 1 minute to thaw 3 tablespoons of hard-frozen shredded hot peppers is far, far, FAR too long. We have every door open in the plant. It is 9 above zero.

This is a for chemical warfare. Do not otherwise-utilize.

There's been a quite significant jump in our raw materials prices, which means, unfortunately, that for the first time in about 7 years, we're going to have to raise our wholesale and retail pricing. Effective probably Monday. (Immediately for our wholesalers, but they already know.)

We received word this morning that one of our long-time vendors, Ron Trump (the fellow with a hook) passed away of complications from a gall stone. Though Ron was "up there" we are assured the virus had nothing to do with his passing.

Sarah and I first met Ron and his wife Gwen when they were in the kettle-corn business, at the White Eagle PowWow, some 20 year ago, and were excited to have them join our team when the kettle-corn proved to be too cumbersome as time advanced. They became good friends to us.

We'll miss him.

Well, since our very-enjoyable events in February at the Capital City Bike Show followed by the Iowa Beef Expo, we've seen a "bit" of a change in fortune, as all events in March, April and now May (up to but not including as yet Memorial Day) have been canceled.

We ARE open at the plant; safely quarantined and marked safe from viruses of all types. We DO welcome retail-by-appointment (and sometimes walk-in clients when the stars align) and of course our mail-order online business is still active.

We refuse to get grumpy about this situation. It REALLY stings, but we'll do our part along with everyone else to get to the end of the tunnel. We pray for all of our friends, clients, vendors and associates who are struggling with us, and we hope for better days to come.

This is Good Friday, and in a couple days, we'll celebrate with "He Is Risen!" He is Risen, indeed, and our faith and security is in Him, not in our business model.

We at WBM have every intention of forcing our overworked crew to continue to make jerky as this plague descends upon us, as we understand for many people being unable to travel will make it hard to stock up on our Jerky, which is some would say. so we'll send you a wonderful antidote (not really, I'm just saying that) cure for whatever ails you.
