🎃 🎃 Don't Trash Those Pumpkins! 🎃 🎃

🐓🐥🐐🐎 I'll take your HAY, STRAW, GOURDS, uncarved PUMPKINS,etc for my goats & poultry 🐓🐥🐐🐎

So it's that time of year again! Let's not waste these fun pumpkins!!! Save your pumpkins for your local farm critters!
(Always ask first before you ever feed anyone's livestock though.)
Most local homesteaders and farmers have animals that will love your pumpkins & gourds & more ! Goats, horses, pigs and chickens love them!
And the seeds are a natural dewormer to help keep them healthy!
So don't trash your decorations! (or bruised unsellables from pumpkin patches)

🎃🎃🎃 I will be accepting donations on NOAH's MILL Rd in GEORGETOWN AND RIFLE RANGE Rd in MT PLEASANT. 🎃Also if anyone wants to be a neighborhood collection point, I'm happy to come pick up all at once (this has worked extremely well in past years 🎃 🎃🎃

With Easter on its way, please think twice before getting a live animal for your child’s Easter basket! Many parents believe that raising a duckling can be a fun learning experience for a child, and that it can end with dropping the animal off at the nearest lake when it gets bigger. It’s unfortunately not that simple.

Ducks sold as pets are domesticated animals, just like cats, dogs, or cattle. They don’t have the same survival skills as their wild counterparts and can’t forage, migrate, or avoid predators. You (hopefully!) wouldn’t get your child a puppy and then dump it at the park when it gets older, so please don’t do that to a duck.

Unless you’re prepared for a lifelong commitment to a new pet, skip the live bunnies, chicks, and ducklings, and opt for chocolate instead.

About ten days ago, we posted about a large colony of sick stray cats on a property in Huger. We believe there are around 35 cats total. So far, we have "TNR'd" (trap-neuter-release) thirteen adults. They have all tested FeLV/FIV negative and most of their health issues are due to heavy parasitism and lack of vaccination. We have also taken out around ten kittens, but have had some loss due to panleukopenia, which goes back to lack of vaccination. We do have two healthy kittens from this group that will be up for adoption at our adoption event at Toni's Detroit Style Pizza in the Mount Pleasant Towne Center this Tuesday, July 9th from 4 to 7 pm. We have seen a lot of suffering and experienced grief on multiple occasions this spring and summer. The one and only way to prevent this type of suffering is through TNR. Once vaccinated and spay/neutered, these healthy cats can go back to an environment they've known all their lives. They will be fed, but they will not reproduce. This has been a very large undertaking and the cost of medical care is growing. Please consider donating any amount that can help us help more of these babies.

Wonderful, loving personalities (i will not promise that 1 in particular won't wake you up at 1am purring in your face ;))
They get along great with other cats. Very tolerant of imperfect cuddles from tiny humans.
