We had another interesting opportunity happen to Liquor Lovers: Variety- the Children’s Charity and Roses & Rye.

Deb and I have donated to Variety in the past. About a month ago one of our customers, Meredith Hedstrom asked us to make a donation. I said let me talk to Deb and Kyle and I will get back to you.

Liquor Lovers provides us with a big platform to do good and when the time is right for us we want in. What we do wouldn’t be possible without our customers and our employees. We decided to buy a barrel of bourbon and label it with Variety Club and Roses and Rye. This is the 2026 barrel and if this works how I hope it will work then we want to buy a barrel for them every year. We will make a donation to Variety on behalf of Team Liquor Lovers and our customers.

Next up we needed to pick a barrel. The Pickin with da Boys made a road trip to Revelton and what a trip it was. We have sampled over 300 barrels the last few years to find 36 store picks. This was a very impressive pick. Very classy distillery. As Rob and Shawn from Revelton told us the barrel is music infused, meaning the music was playing when the magic happened. The song that was playing was “If today was your last day” by Nickleback. What if it was. Then what? Live life with no regrets.

The Variety event is July 18 at Talons Club in Ankeny. We will lay out the bottle for sale on July 18. Please stop by on July 18 and buy some very good juice and support an important cause. Stay tuned for the time of day for the bottle drop.
