We have a limited supply of Pawnee paper-shell pecans. They are beautiful and shelling into large, golden halves. The On-Line Store is open. The last rain we had on the orchard was July 11. Our natural aquifer keeps us going pretty well but it’s time to worry a little. There’s a tropical storm brewing that may get up onto North Texas later this week. I have a theory that rainwater contains nitrogen and is more beneficial than stored water…

At this year’s Texas Pecan Growers trade show, a new event was introduced. Shelling pecans by hand. Object was to be first to produce 20 perfect halves. I’ll be practicing up for this….
