Built a new wood storage rack for my fire pit. It’s 4 foot high and has a nice amount of wood in it.

Fruit thinning is a weird process. Generally fruit trees drop excess fruit early in the year. My fruit trees are of course unique and don’t do that. That leaves me to pick the unripe fruit to ensure that I get big healthy fruit, rather than a lot of small fruit. This year I had to pick a bunch of the peaches. Lucky deer!!

I also clean up the excessive growth to get sun and air to fruit. This helps with ripening and reduces the change for fungus/disease. As a bonus it’s also easier to see the fruit and check for ripening.

Cool to see how the grafts are on a different schedule to the ‘host’ tree. This schedule is based on the specific fruit tree and the variety, rather than being a result of grafting. You don’t normally see this on a single tree though.

Finished pruning most of the fruit trees. Very happy with the way they are shaping up. The basic idea with fruit trees is to create an open, tea cup design.
