When I first got chickens, I wanted to breed for Easter eggers (green and blue eggs). Jess already had crested cream legbars, a blue egg laying breed, so I got a rooster from her! A very distinguishable feature of the breed is their crest on top of their head. I kept him (mini stew) for a year and ended up choosing to breed Easter eggers with a prarie bluebell egger rooster (Bluey).
That was in the summer of 2023! Here we are 3 years later and a couple generations in of mixing breeds, and that crest is still hanging in there!
This little lady was mixed with Rex, my black tailed red marans rooster, and to be honest, I have no idea who her mama is 😅🤣 but she sure is pretty!!
