🍯 This might just be my new favorite loaf!

Honey, Cinnamon & Oats!

A little sweetness from the honey, a warm hint of cinnamon, and the goodness of oats make this loaf absolutely delicious!

Perfect toasted for breakfast with a little butter, or enjoyed as an afternoon snack with a cup of coffee!

Get ready to place your orders! Doughlores and I are busy getting everything ready to start filling orders again!

The kitchen is smelling wonderful, and it feels SO good to be back doing what I love! ❤️

Safe to say Doughlores is officially back in action! ❤️

Two successful loaves under my belt, and I think we’re finding our groove again!

I’m excited to be hosting a sourdough class in my home the first week of November with three friends who are eager to learn the art of sourdough baking!

After that, I’m hoping to get Colette Kneads Dough back up and running!

She’s baaaack!! Kind of. Colette Kneads Dough is slowly making a comeback!

After taking some much-needed time off from sourdough while moving and getting settled into our new home, I’m finally finding my way back to my happy place.

We’ve been enjoying meeting our new neighbors, and what better way to introduce ourselves than with a fresh loaf of sourdough? My new starter, Doughlores, made her debut with a delicious Cheddar & Chive loaf for one of our neighbors!

My foot is still giving me some trouble, especially after all the unpacking, so I’m taking things slowly. But I’m hoping to be back up and baking in time for the holidays!

Speaking of the holidays… my 4-pack mini sourdough loaves make the PERFECT little gift! Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful hostess gift, something for a teacher or neighbor, or a delicious addition to a holiday gathering, these little loaves are always a hit!

I’m not quite ready to take orders just yet, but stay tuned! I’m excited to get my hands back in the dough and my kitchen smelling like fresh bread again.

Thank you all for your patience, encouragement, and continued support. I’ve missed baking for you!

A little sourdough update…

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted!

Life has been a bit of a whirlwind. We sold our home and are currently displaced until we can move into our new home in October.

The good news is, our new home is going to be perfect for me to start baking again, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the kitchen! Until then, my starter is tucked away in a friend’s refrigerator in Wisconsin while we spend some time with family in Illinois and enjoy a little Florida sunshine.

I have to admit, I am REALLY missing baking sourdough — the loaves, the bagels, the pizza, the cookies, all of it!

My foot is doing much better. It’s not quite 100%, so when I start baking again I’ll definitely be taking some precautions so I don’t end up as sore as I was last time. Apparently, my feet don’t appreciate marathon sourdough baking days as much as I do.

Hopefully October will bring a new kitchen, a fresh start, and lots of sourdough coming out of the oven again.

Colette Kneads Dough will be back! ❤️

Hi, sourdough friends! ❤️

Many of you have asked about my foot. It has its good days and bad days depending on what I’m doing, but thankfully making a few loaves here and there doesn’t seem to bother it.

I also have some bittersweet news to share…we are moving out of the area. While we’re excited for this next chapter, it also means I’ve started packing up my sourdough kitchen.

The good news is that I haven’t packed everything! I can still make loaves and bagels, so if you’re in the Oshkosh area and have been craving fresh sourdough, let me know and I’ll coordinate a delivery.

I’ll also be making a trip to Illinois soon and will be taking bread and bagel orders for that visit, so my Illinois friends, stay tuned!

One change for now: my mini loaf pans are already packed, so if you’d like a flavored bread, in a smaller size than 900g, I can make half-size flavored loaves instead. Mini loaves are about 225g.

I can also make pizza dough that can be frozen and the brown butter salted chocolate chip cookies if interested! These cookies have fast become one of my family and friends favorites.

I can’t thank all of you enough for supporting my little sourdough journey. Whether you’ve ordered once or many times, shared my posts, or cheered me on, you’ve been such a blessing. I’m hoping to keep baking as long as I can before the move and then get settled so I can continue sharing sourdough from our new home.

Local peeps: Comment below or send me a message, and I’ll coordinate delivery! 🍞🥯❤️

One of the most rewarding parts of this sourdough journey has been teaching and sharing what I’ve learned.

Watching Tracy Ziebell gain confidence in the kitchen has been so much fun! She has mastered sourdough bread, and now we’ve moved on to making bagels and experimenting with some delicious sourdough discard recipes.

There’s something special about passing along a skill that brings people together. Good bread, lots of laughter, and creating memories in the kitchen—it doesn’t get much better than that. I’m so proud of how far she’s come and can’t wait to see what we bake next! (There’s actually Hawaiian roll and cream cheese bite dough rising on the counter!!)

It’s hard to believe it’s already been 6 weeks since I posted last, and unfortunately my foot still isn’t healed. 😔 I truly thought I’d be back to baking by now, but it’s been a much slower process than I ever expected.
I’ve have been sneaking in a few single loaves, pizza dough, muffins and cookies here and there—making sure to space them out so I don’t overdo it. It’s been good for my heart to bake a little, even if I have to take it slow. I was also able to teach a friend, Tracy Ziebell, how to make sourdough, and thrilled to share the enjoyment of sourdough making with her! She’s doing fantastic and already experimenting with inclusions. I’m lining up plans to teach another friend soon, Christine Lemay!

In the meantime, we’ve been keeping busy packing because we’re getting ready to sell our home. We don’t know exactly where we’re headed yet, but we’re excited to see where God leads us.

My hope is that in the very near future we will have a new home and I will have a healed foot. Until then, thank you all for your patience, encouragement, and prayers. I miss baking regularly and I can’t wait to get back at it. ❤️

Foot update: I tried doing a little baking again this weekend, but the pain came right back almost immediately. So for now I’m still taking it easy — resting, icing, and keeping up with my exercises. I also ordered some new shoes and a small ankle brace, so I’m hoping those help too. One step at a time over here.

Needless to say, this whole situation really kneads to improve soon… because I’m definitely feeling crumby without making sourdough for you all.

Quick update! I’m still in the boot and taking it easy for now. I made these three loaves and then decided I needed to put my starter in the fridge for one more week to focus on healing.

I’m really hoping to be back at it soon—miss baking for you all more than you know! Thanks so much for your patience and support.

This baker is temporarily deflated… foot’s not letting me rise to the occasion.

I gave baking a small try today—bagels, a loaf of bread, and a few dozen cookies—but my foot made it clear it’s still not ready. So I’m taking another week off from sourdough. Not easy stepping away from something you love, but healing comes first.
