Snug as a bug in a rug.

Tonight is the first chilly night, and we have the barn battened down. I’d say everyone is pretty cozy!

To keep her son or to not keep her son… 😩 Why couldn’t she have just been nice and given me a doe so I wouldn’t have to make this decision??

Her son is out of CH Hidden Hills Final Note *B, and she’s a Saint daughter. Which means this little guy would be a 3/4 sibling to a HUGE portion of my herd. 🙃 Clearly, I’m a pretty big fan of this cross. 😂

Do I need another buck with this much genetic overlap in my herd? Absolutely not.

Do I want to keep him anyway? Unfortunately, very much so. 😅 The struggle of trying to make responsible breeding decisions when you really, really like what’s standing in front of you. 🤣

Ah good. Good. This is real good.

I absolutely could not be more proud of my girls for their performance this week. We made our way to the Georgia National Fair where the people are great and the competition is stiff. As always, it was SUCH a well ran show.

All of our juniors actually placed first or second in the juniors with the exception of our 4th place BRE HeartOfGold who unbeknownst to me at the time, was coming down with some stress induced GI upset (she’s fine now but it was not her day 🫤). These were all huge classes with around 20 in most, so I’m thrilled I’ve it!

The highlight of the junior show was undoubtedly when Bella Rossa Estate Mo Money went Grand Champion! This was her first time out and she actually handled it swimmingly!

The milkers were so exciting for me. I only brought 4 yearlings and a champion challenger, and they all blew it out of the water! The yearlings were placed 1st with Raven, 2nd with Rosary, 3rd with Lark, and 4th with Spot Da Dot. But they didn’t stop there 😅 Bella Rossa Estate PrettyRaven went on to snag a Reserve Champion behind and absolutely exquisite doe with more age on her. I couldn’t be more elated with this placing. Raven was newly fresh, still putting her body back together, and only had a singleton (!) But still showed up enough to earn a reserve against some truly incredible does 🥹 did I mention that I milked all the yearlings completely out at 10pm the night before a show that started at 10am? I LOVE a doe who can go anywhere and be under more stress than they ever have been under and STILL fill their udders. And they all proved that they could do it!

To top the day off, CH Camaraderie Farm Blue Belle VEEE91 went on to win Best if Breed against 2 other challengers that I have admired for years. She is such a special doe. ❤️
