Sun Gold tomatoes - finally! They’ve been delayed by about two months because of the January freeze, so we are even more excited to be putting these sweet and tangy treats in our subscriber garden baskets this week and bringing boxes for our customers at the Friday afternoon farmers market at Arcadia’s McSwain Center (1 to 5:30-ish). We will look forward to seeing you!

Come see us at Pioneer days in Arcadia from 9-3 today. We have Herbs, Peppers, Veggies. In the next stall is the Arcadia Garden Club with all sorts of ornamental plants. Put some life in your spring garden. Come visit at the Turner center.

3 days ago Emilia gave us a beatiful brown ewe lamb. Upcoming this weekend, Tracy will be at the Arcadia Farmers Market Friday from 1-6pm. This weekend we will be at the Pioneer days selling seedlings for you to plant. Also the Arcadia, Florida Garden Club will have plants for sale. Come get your spring plants at the Turner center this Saturday!

Carrots -- sweet and crunchy -- for our garden basket subscribers this week! They are infinitely tastier than what you can get at the grocery store and we are always excited when they are finally ready to harvest (they take FOREVER to grow.) We may also have a few bunches available for sale with our other greens and veggies. See you at the farmers market at the McSwain Center tomorrow (Friday) 1-5-ish!

Pioneer Day is Saturday, March 29, 9 am-3 pm, at the Turner Center. Riven Oak will have a variety of vegetable and herb garden starts; Arcadia Garden Club has even more herbs, flowers, houseplants, and more. Come for plants, or be like my dad and come for the fresh strawberry shortcake! Or like my husband, for the excellent barbecue! Riven Oak Garden starts will include:

Why Canada isn't having the same bird flu/egg price crisis as US:

Avg size of Canada's egg farms ~ 23,000 hens
Avg size of American egg farms ~ 50,000 to 6 million hens

Smaller farms, more jobs for small towns, more resiliency.

Prices have soared in the U.S. but not here, and it comes down to differences in farms’ scale and supply management

Tomorrow (Sat March 1) is shearing day, if you know the ladies come see them get skinny for the summer. Shearing goes from about 12:30 to 2:30. Not a big event, we will have some iced tea. It's a work of art to see and experienced shearer in action.

I was up on top of the workshop doing final fixes from Hurricane damage, and had a great view of the Veggie/Herb fields. If you look close you can see farmer Tracy working on the tomato plants. After delays from Hurricanes and bad weather, the fields are looking great and we will have lots of goodies from the fields. Strawberries, Broccolini, Sun Gold Tomatoes, Dancer Egg Plants, Herbs.
