Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, but we especially want to wish our resident farm moms a very special shout out.
2024 has started out a bit more challenging this year. In January, our main man Jerry was hospitalized and was found that his heart was struggling to keep up. Though he's doing much better, but he's still has a long road ahead as he'll need a major surgery to repair the main issue this summer.
Since January, he's had to take a step back from daily chores to focus on his recovery. Not only has our farm mom, Deb, taken on those daily operations on top of her normal load, she's also now running him to appointments and keeping on top of his care. We don't know how she does it.
Thankfully, she isn't doing it alone. Thank you to Ann, our other farm momma, for all her help with milkings. She, Karl, and grandson Jack have been a huge help these last 6 months and the operation couldn't keep up without them. Kris has been putting in extra long hours after spending many miles on the road with his off farm job and keeps the machinery going for everyone. Karyn and grandsons, Matt and Jake, sneak away whenever they can to lend a hand. Jerry's sisters also are always a phone call away and there in minutes when we need an extra hand. We're also very excited that Kirsten and her family are now back in the Midwest after their station overseas and will be able to visit this summer. Kaitlyn (the author of this post) is playing more emotional support since grand baby #8, who is due any day now, has kept her on the sidelines with Jerry. Thank you also Levi, our unofficial grandson and hired hand, and all the friends and neighbors who have stepped up!
Again, farm moms are a breed of their own and absolutely amazing. Happy Mother's Day, Deb! We love you and appreciate all that you do (the list would be too long and probably incomplete if we tried).
