Dixie Belle Farms Loving and raising our Texas Prison Horses and living the dream of having them close to home. We have had 4 Prison Horses so far.

Last year we took a leap of faith, joined forces with new friends and bought a pregnant prison mare miss Delilah.

One of our beloved prison horses at Dixie Belle gave us a big scare on Mother’s Day.Mama Delilah colicked and was taken to the vet with baby Ranger in tow. She had an ultrasound that came out clear and then given mineral oil for passing from the upper part of her stomach. She was severely dehydrated as well. Last night her heart rate spiked very high and they asked to scope her. She showed grade 4 bleeding ulcers and severe pain. This sweet girl carried so much pain in her muzzle and was still as kind and forgiving as ever. She knew everyone was trying to help her. Today they came home. She will be on medication for 28 days to heal her inside out and lots of love to go along with it. The clinic was in love with baby and couldn’t get enough of his sweetness. So grateful for my dad that noticed the signs and my amazing friend Olivia that stopped her day and ran over to take them to the after hours clinic. They literally saved her life. We didn’t lose another horse on Mother’s Day. Praise Jesus

Sweet baby Ranger is 6 weeks old now and full of energy and love. He’s so eager to learn! He loves to be brushed, rubbed and basically get any attention from us. He runs with the car when we are leaving or coming home. He’s sweet as can be with a little vinegar included once in awhile

Ranger boy is 4 weeks old and doing so well. Look at his gorgeous body and color. He has such a good head on his shoulders and doing great learning to lead
