Pierce co fair was a huge success. Girls had a lot of fun, judges were awesome at giving reasons, and they learned a lot to improve for next year. 5 longhorns, 3 Holsteins and 4 goats. Thank you to Meemaw for helping haul the girls back and forth, Drier Farms for allowing the girls to take your Holsteins to the fair, Pillar Bank for buying Daisy’s market wether, and The Durand Smokehouse for not only buying Lena’s market wether, but also being accommodating to us with our horned cattle. We wouldn’t be where we are without them in our meat business.

And this makes all the hard days worth it. The girls have worked hard to get their heifers ready for the show ring. They will be bringing 6 halter broke heifers to the Cheesehead Futurity for other kids to participate in the Little Cheesers Showmanship class. They will be bringing 5 of those heifers to the Pierce County Fair in a few weeks as well. Zero help from Mom and Dad. We couldn’t be more proud of them.

Started bragging about the dogs yesterday and they had to be sure I kept at it. They treed on a c**n sleeping in the yard. Took us forever to find it up there but we got it taken care of. Skadi is still learning and it was her first c**n “hunt.” West Fork Catahoulas raises the best multipurpose Catahoulas. They will have pups available that are the same cross as Dusty (on the tree) and Loon (climbing the tree)

West Forks Loon has to make sure she can see the entire farm before taking a little nap. We wouldn’t know how to ranch without Catahoulas anymore. Between working our own cattle and catching loose ones for other people, the breed has earned a forever home here.
