Mountain Meat Shares

Mountain Meat Shares Quality meat from local farms for home cooks who care about where their meat comes from and want to s We source happy, healthy, vigorous animals.

My connection to food and the animals that nourish us started in my childhood in Upstate New York. My Slovenian immigrant grandparents lived just up the road and they raised dairy cows, pigs and chickens. This provided our families with milk, butter and meat, as well as fruit and vegetables all grown at the farm. It was there that I learned the deep sense of satisfaction from caring for animals. F

riends and visitors to our farm have asked me countless times—“How can you eat these animals once you have raised them?” The question confounds me, as I want to ask “How can you eat the animals you know nothing about?” The horrors of industrial confinement meat operations are no secret. The impact to the animals, the workers, the environment and our health is known. Choosing (and it is a choice) to eat meat comes with a responsibility to know how the animals are raised. My mission in creating Mountain Meat Shares is to source meat from farms that I have visited, from farmers I have interviewed that raise animals to my standards—meat I would eat.

A Winter Stockup share is more than potatoes and onions (although those are excellent storage staples for your kitchen). Having local, delicious vegetables on hand during the winter makes meal planning a breeze.
Who wants to schlep out in the slush and ice for cardboard-tasting vegetables from who knows where when you can have everything you need right in your home.
I always get a winter share and add on lots more. PM me if you are just not sure how you will store or use these vegetables. I can help.
