⭐️ Spring Farmstand Sale⭐️
It’s a and this week we want to invite you to the farm! Sunday and Monday 4-8pm we will have freshly processed pasture raised chickens, eggs galore, beef from our friends and other farm products available. Come say hi and stock up on superior quality, locally raised meat, eggs, and fresh farm products!

Check out our website to view products (link in bio). You can pre-order or come shop in person. At the farm we accept Venmo, cash or check. Cards are accepted via the website or buyer account if you prefer.

⭐️Pork Lard⭐️
It’s and rendered fresh this week we have lard stocked.

Raise your hand 🙋‍♂️ if you can name fat soluble vitamins. A,D,E, & K. And did you know that you get a dose of these vitamins when consuming the fats of animals that were exposed to sunshine?

Our pastured pigs graze on unsprayed grasses and are fed a USDA certified organic corn free, soy free feed. They have a thick layer of lard and it doesn’t get any cleaner than this, folks!

Lard is an excellent cooking medium to replace seed oils. It works amazingly for flaky pastries, biscuits, roasting and searing.

We will have pork lard and other farm products for sale at our upcoming farmstand sale May 24th and 25th 4-8pm. Come check it out!

Hey Missoula—there’s a new farm created by real Missoula folks, and it’s time to sign up for their veggie shares!

If you haven’t secured weekly produce, sign-up! It’s amazing to have fresh local veggies every week!

We are excited to host Garden Snake Farm by Sadie, Eric, and Bizzy on our virtual farmstand and even more excited to see them weekly Tuesday Evenings 5-7p at the N Higgins ### where you can pick up your CSA or shop their produce!

Rudy has tried all the dog beds in the house (there are 6) and Normans XXL bed is his fav 😂 Thankfully Norman shares.

Backstory: Rudy is an Icelandic sheep (not a goat, but kinda THE GOAT of JVF lately). He was born prematurely with a twin. He was very lethargic and cold and came inside for lamb ICU (aka LICU). We weren’t sure he was going to make it. After a couple days of tube feedings he was strong enough to nurse, but unfortunately his mom rejected him. Thankfully she’s raising his twin who’s thriving. A couple failed adoption attempts, and we’ve been enjoying his company 24/7 (🥱) for the past few weeks. We are hopeful he will be a pasture sheep as soon as he’s weaned and that I will someday sleep through the night again 😂 He’s progressing well integrating into the flock.

His destiny was the butcher in November, but he’s still quite small and he’s also won us over to the idea of maybe having a pasture pet. 🐏

Farmstand Friday ✨
Today’s feature: Fairy eggs & our egg CSA!

We adore the small fairy eggs our young pullets started laying two weeks ago! They are cute and delicious and nutritious!

We are transitioning regular egg sales to a 13 week CSA model starting June 2 to better meet demands for our premium pasture raised eggs. We wanted to invite you to sign up for the egg CSA this fine but it filled up before it was time to post!

If you were hoping to snag a spot, sign up for our newsletter (link in bio) and check back on the website in July when we open up our second CSA sign up.

We have replenished our laying flock this spring and will be able to expand the CSA. Round two start starts August 31st!!

We will have some extra eggs available and plan to sell them locally in Arlee from our new farmstand (built entirely with repurposed materials!!) and will also bring extra eggs to Missoula. Find us at the Tuesday evening market on North Higgins starting June 2nd!

From Field to Fork 🐖🌿🍴today’s feature is pasture raised pork.

Ever wonder why pasture-raised pork looks—and tastes—so different? It’s all about the lifestyle.

While conventional pork is often raised in crowded, indoor environments with a limited diet, our pigs spend their days doing exactly what they were meant to do: eat, wallow, graze, and enjoy the company of their farm family! They enjoy a buffet of fresh organic veggies from and lush green grass by the canal and we use a locally sourced certified organic corn/soy-free feed. This diet doesn’t just make for happy pigs; it creates meat with a complex, superior flavor AND nutritional profile. Pasture-raising significantly boosts levels of Vitamin D and Omega-3s and we raise our pigs with the love and care only two healthcare providers-turned farmers could offer, making our meat a choice you can feel good about serving and consuming.

📣The “Last Call” for Pork 📣

We are currently down to a limited supply. Now is the time to put a deposit on your half or whole hog. We’ve made the decision to transition our focus in the coming seasons. We will not be regularly raising pork after 2026, so the pork left will be our last.

Update: he’s doing great. Started walking and taking the bottle!!

Eyes wide open. Day 4.
Not much stronger, but more time awake means more time being adorable. He might start spamming the internet. But is he more likely to go downhill if we name him?

Hoping for progress in the right direction. We are committed to giving him the best chance with carefully calculated intake volumes, output tracking, weights, and the whole NICU, or as some now call it, LICU (lamb-ICU) care regimen. Weighing in a 6-6 this morning 🥹 (up 10oz in 36 hours!). He’s still fully tube fed, but today biting on the bottle ni**le. No visits to mama bc it’s way too cold out there, but he’s getting 50% mama milk and 50% milk replacer and I firmly believe mama milk is best for him. 🧡

Any lamb experts out there please share your experiences with wimpy lambs! This is our first time having to intervene!

Baby cries 🐏 Mama comes running 🧡

These ram twins are 3 days old. They were small and floppy and had their eyes closed at birth. Eyes are open and they are perking up. The white one is still fully tube fed, but he’s spending some time awake and even trying to stand up. The brown one is a bit stronger and staying out in the stall with mama. He needs some help feeding and tires quickly. Mama is a champ. She lets us milk her some for the supplementation and she’s bonded to both even though we have the white one in the house helping him grow right now. We hope they both make it! 🐏🐏
