Maple Valley Homestead Welcome to our little one-acre homestead! We raise chickens, Muscovy ducks, and Silver Fox rabbits, with turkeys and pigs making occasional appearances.

We love cooking from scratch and preserving food to nourish our family, one season at a time.

Today's large task was to clear out all of the tomatoes and ground cherries from this garden.

Instead of weeding the small weeds, the chickens will be clearing/weeding it for us.

They are so happy to be eating all of the bugs in the soil here!

When preparing rabbit to cook, it's easy to overthink the perfect combination of spices to complement the meat.

Less is more, you don't want to drown out the actual flavor of the meat!

Most nights, we use just the standard poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper . This time, Dan-o's OG all purpose seasoning.

Roast low and slow (350 degrees) for 45 mins covered.

DELICIOUS and tender!

No we don't like eating it, but it's a pretty cool looking plant when it isn't dead 🤣
