Busy week here! We were able to schedule our check presentation for the Sappy Days donation to the Goodman-Armstrong Creek Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Unstacked barrels and loaded a semi for our first shipment of bulk syrup AND with the award-winning mixologist home for a visit, we were able to make another limited time batch of maple old fashioned mixes!

What a feather in our cap for the end of our season! We were honored that H2O Innovation/Leader chose us for this production. Our last cook was Monday, #19, the same number of times as last year. The trees were very good to us again, and we will be taking care of them as we pull taps in the upcoming weeks. 🌳🍁 Overall, another great season!

Brrr, Monday through Tuesday morning temperatures sure felt more like early sap season weather! We had 34,942 gallons of sap for Cook #15 yesterday, but another drop in sap sugar content was typical when the end is in sight. Last year we had our 19th/final cook on April 18th. Looks like we may not go that long this year with the weather forecast!
Part 2 Follow-up for Sappy Days: A Wisconsin Maple Syrup Experience (too much to remember first time!)...
Congratulations to the 3 winners of our Door Prizes: Tim G. of Townsend, Richard W. of Marinette, and Hannah P. of Neenah.
We would also like to thank Goodmen Plumbing and Heating-it's a great "relief" that they provide the porta-potty for Sappy Days every year!
Finally, year 5 was the first time we had a mysterious situation. It seems that our sample bottles for white barrel #67 and silver barrel #4 hitched a ride home with someone! There were some visiting children that asked if they could have one of them, but it was explained to them that they are needed for our food processing license requirement. If they happen to be discovered, please help them find their way home!

It's been back to business as usual since Sappy Days: A Wisconsin Maple Syrup Experience. After Sunday cleanup and warming afternoon temperatures, we had a little over 19,000 gallons of sap for each cook on both Monday and Tuesday. Then, with the ice storm Wednesday night and into Thursday, and a possible power outage, we stored all sap the rest of the week and processed 31,000 gallons yesterday!
We were overwhelmed at the great turn out of visitors within the state, and even out of state, at all locations and events for this year's Sappy Days. The new apparel and maple old fashioned mix were a huge hit! We can't stress enough our appreciation for the help and support of all our family and friends that make this happen at our sugarhouse! AND a special thank you to Lynn Stankevich, James Lynn Stankevich, the main founder of the event, for coordinating the family sugarcamp and local business participants, and the Lion's Club and Fire and Rescue Department's involvement. Thank you Rachel Stankevich, for managing the event page. Also, thanks to Visit Forest County for their support; Gudowicz's Marathon & Store, Northwoods IGA in Niagara, Schaefers IGA, Haen Meat Packing, Haen's Popple River Brew Pub and New Barons Brewing Cooperative in Milwaukee for the maple food and beverage treats.🍁 Such a great event to show what can happen when community members work together!
