It's been back to business as usual since Sappy Days: A Wisconsin Maple Syrup Experience. After Sunday cleanup and warming afternoon temperatures, we had a little over 19,000 gallons of sap for each cook on both Monday and Tuesday. Then, with the ice storm Wednesday night and into Thursday, and a possible power outage, we stored all sap the rest of the week and processed 31,000 gallons yesterday!
We were overwhelmed at the great turn out of visitors within the state, and even out of state, at all locations and events for this year's Sappy Days. The new apparel and maple old fashioned mix were a huge hit! We can't stress enough our appreciation for the help and support of all our family and friends that make this happen at our sugarhouse! AND a special thank you to Lynn Stankevich, James Lynn Stankevich, the main founder of the event, for coordinating the family sugarcamp and local business participants, and the Lion's Club and Fire and Rescue Department's involvement. Thank you Rachel Stankevich, for managing the event page. Also, thanks to Visit Forest County for their support; Gudowicz's Marathon & Store, Northwoods IGA in Niagara, Schaefers IGA, Haen Meat Packing, Haen's Popple River Brew Pub and New Barons Brewing Cooperative in Milwaukee for the maple food and beverage treats.π Such a great event to show what can happen when community members work together!
