🌱 HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES — HARVEST DAYS START THIS WEEK! 🌱
First, I owe everyone an apology for the short notice! I had promised to get this update out on Friday, and the weekend got away from me.
Our first homeschool harvest orientation will be Wednesday, August 26 at 9:00 AM at Meadowlark Acres. The address on our page is the place to meet.
The short notice will make it tough for some so I’ll hold a second orientation Tuesday, September 1 at 9:00 AM as well. (How are we already closing in on September?!)
The tour and orientation itself will only take about 30 minutes. After that, we’ll head into the garden and harvest together! Plan on being here for roughly 2–2½ hours total. It can be fairly laborious so it’s kinda like gym and recess too! Hahaha, good for the soul.
Going forward, I plan to have homeschool harvest mornings on:
🌱 Tuesdays 9am
🌱 Thursdays 9am- Thursdays are market days. I’ll also be baking on Thursday mornings so we’ll divide and conquer! 😎
One thing I’m excited to offer this year: each family that comes out and helps harvest can fill one of our produce boxes with fresh Meadowlark Acres produce to take home as payment for helping that week.
This is meant to be more than just extra hands for me. This kind of agriculture is, in a way, a fairly newish/different concept to our part of the state. I want the kids, the next generation, to have an opportunity to spend time on a working produce farm, learn how different crops are grown and harvested, and experience where their food actually comes from — while helping me bring in the harvest. 😉
First orientation: Wednesday, August 26 at 9:00 AM
Second orientation: Tuesday, September 1 at 9:00 AM
Time: Approximately 2–2½ hours
Harvest mornings: Tuesdays & Thursdays
If your homeschool family would like to participate, comment below or send Meadowlark Acres a message so I know who to expect!
See you in the garden! 🌱🍅
