The high winds last night took their toll on our pasture. The eggmobile flipped over, damage to our chicken tractors, and lots of fences down. By the grace of God we had relatively few losses. We’re thankful for our health and safety and a dry home. Tomorrow we harvest more meat birds. It’ll be a busy weekend here!

For those that have asked, here are the “chicken tractors” that house our meat birds. 1/2 is shaded against sun, wind, and rain, and the other half fenced for access to sun. This protects well against predators (for the most part) and is easily moved with a dolly cart. We drag these forward every day to fresh grass.

Best day to be a pastured poultry producer!
Started the day meeting our customers at farmers market, then ending the day bringing a new batch of chicks from brooder to pasture. Seeing them experience grass for the first time is our favorite part :)

We label our eggs as being “pasture-raised”. In order to label this way, the hens must have at least 108 square feet per bird. Our happy hens have limitless access to our green pastures, so we exceed the “pasture raised” standard and the quality of our eggs follows.
