LongShot Farms is a naturally grown "U-Pick" blueberry farm located at 158 Wolfskin Road in Arnoldsville, GA just outside of Athens. We never use any conventional chemicals or fertilizers on any of our produce.

Our chicks are starting to hatch from our incubator 🐣 We’ve got 18 eggs that should all hatch based on candling. These are a barnyard mix and will lay eggs like the colors in the second picture (various shades of olive, blue, and brown). $25/6 chicks (a minimum of 6 chicks must be purchased). If you want all 18 chicks, get them for $70 🐥 🐥

There are still plenty of berries of the bushes this weekend. The drier weather has been good because there aren’t any leaking or burst berries to attract bees. Come early in the morning or late in the evening to bear the heat. We recommend the further rows or the far end of the rows to find the best picking. We plan to be open for 2 more weeks, but the picking won’t be any better than it is now.

There are still tons of berries on the bushes. We recommend the lower field (take a left in the gate, and walk to the benches/swing) for better picking. The first few rows by the gate are getting a little sparse. You may notice honeybees drinking juice from some of the older berries. Take care where you put your hands, especially if you have an allergy to bees.

The blueberry bushes have exploded this week! The rain was great for them. Come out this weekend for some of the easiest picking in years. It should take 20 minutes or so to pick a gallon ($15), and remember we have bulk pricing of $60 for 5 gallons. This will probably be the best Saturday/Sunday for that. The next 7-10 days will be peak picking. Remember we are open every day, sunup to sundown!

Opening update!
After checking the fields today and considering the spotty weather next week, we have decided to open Saturday, June 6 for the 2025 season! Because it’s still early in the season many of the berries will be green, but you should also find some nice plump clusters that will make for easy picking. If you’re coming from far away or want 5+ gallons, you may want to wait until next week for more to ripen. But if you’re local and looking for something to do this weekend, come on out and get the first berries of the season. We’re holding pricing the same as last year. $15 per gallon and $60 for 5 gallons. Open rain or shine, seven days a week, sun up to sundown. Happy picking!

We are still probably about 2 weeks away from opening day. Some berries are turning light pink but most are still green. The good news is this is shaping up to be a very good season. There are a bunch of the “grape” clusters that make for easy and quick picking! Stay tuned for another update next week.

It’s time to start planting sweet potato 🍠 slips! We’ve got some beautiful, naturally-grown Georgia Jet sweet potato slips available that can be picked up anytime from our farm with an appointment.

Sweet potato 🍠 slips are sold as a bundle of 5 slips for $10. Many of the slips are large enough that you can even break them apart to create more slips, if desired. Slips will be harvested and bundled/prepared the day you schedule a pick up. If interested in purchasing slips, please send us a message so we can get you scheduled for an easy, breezy farm pick
