Kirby has been the winemaker at Gainey Vineyard since 1997, and has been chasing the Holy Grail of winemaking, Pinot Noir, since being smitten with a 1969 Clos Vougeot. With stints at Buena Vista, Bernardus, Hartford Court and La Crema, Pinot has always been a passion. Rita Hills appellation to produce Pinots to rival the best of the New World. He has been the consulting winemaker at Wedell Cellars since 2008, and has recently been named Chief Winemaker by the Wedell family to oversee all winemaking responsibilities.
