Y’allllll…By choosing to be a member of ours and support milk coming in glass bottles, you kept 960 plastic jugs out of landfills in the just the last 4 weeks!
That is amazing! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼✨✨✨

It would be so much easier on our end to use plastic jugs instead of glass.

We would save sooo many hours each week not washing or sterilizing glass, we wouldn’t have to deal with transporting heavy glass (or cleaning up broken glass 🙃), wouldn’t have to spend several hundred dollars a month on cleaning products for the jars, wouldn’t have to text people about returning their jars or returning dirty jars, and this list could go on and on, believe me.

BUT…. It’s worth it to us!
And we’re making it work, with the help of you all!!

👉🏼No microplastics in milk we’re drinking or feeding to our children!
👉🏼No extra plastic trash we’re contributing to a world that’s way too full of plastic already!
👉🏼The most delicious tasting milk because nothing gross is leaching into it from its packaging!

So give yourself a pat on the back for bringing back your glass jars every week!
It’s because of y’all that we can all do this together!
🙌🏼👏🏼💛🙏🏼

Yall… I’m not on social media much. I don’t even have a smartphone. So, I’m real sorry for the lack of posting lately but truly yall have kept us soooo busy lately it’s wild and amazing.

I just wanted to come on here and express my gratitude for you all. For you being a part of this and also for your words of encouragement.

Almost every day and sometimes multiple times in a single day, I get texts or emails telling me that this is the best raw milk you’ve ever had. That it’s far superior to any other raw milk you’ve had in the past. 🥹🥹🥹

That. Is. Incredible.
Those words are sometimes coming from people who have been buying raw milk for decades!!!!

I can’t even comprehend that fully. But it means so much!

We try real hard, here. Truly. Longggggg hours, crazy schedules, juggling multiple jobs and 5 young kids and trying to avoid taking the easy way out. But yall make it worth it.

Thank you so much for your love and encouragement. Truly. We really never tire of hearing from you. We are so glad y’all are enjoying the milk. So glad. 💛🙏🏼🙌🏼 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

(P.S. We are getting two more cows because we are completely at capacity and the demand is still growing. Praise God! 🙌🏼 And thank y’all. 🤠💛)

If your jar labels are ever a little bit crooked, just know that your support of our family is helping raise up the next generation of hard working entrepreneurs! 🤠

There are some part of this that little hands can’t be involved in, but then there are things like these where even the baby lends a chubby hand!

(Don’t worry, labeling happens before washing and sanitizing. 😅)

Somehow I ended up outside alone (we have 5 kids so this is a feat, y’all) and was able to take a video without yelling in the background. 😆 (Baby was shockingly napping and the big kids were reading to little kids inside.. 🙌🏼)

Dolores says hi, y’all. 👋🏼💛
She seems quite thankful for the grass this spring. ☀️

Some people wonder why raw milk is “so expensive” and while we do understand that sentiment completely, we should probably be asking how on earth the grocery store milk is so cheap? That’s not a rabbit trail I’m going to go down right now but I thought I’d take a moment to share some of the reasons why our prices are what they are.

1. Feed
We use only organic grains and minerals (from a mill in Texas) to supplement our girls when they’re in milk and that is certainly not cheap. We don’t want our family to consume glyphosate and we don’t want our cows to either. We also do feed hay sometimes if our pastures are lacking or we are in a drought.

2. Milking Supplies
Between wipes and dips for cleaning udders, all natural fly sprays and actual machine parts and filters that wear out and need to be replaced… there’s a lot of cost that goes into daily milking that people never see or think about.

3. Vet and Breeding Costs
These don’t need an explanation but obviously if and when a problem does come up… it costs a whole lot.

4. Infrastructure
Maintaining and building fencing, keeping gates functioning, replacing trough float valves…. the list goes on and on. You would think you could buy something once and have it last but turns out cows sometimes enjoy breaking things more than we’d like them to.

5. Cleaning Supplies
From washing and sanitizing milkers, our cooling tank and every glass jar… we use a lottttt of cleaners. And as a raw milk dairy, that’s a good thing!

I could probably list 100 different things here and that wouldn’t even include being paid for our time that we spending milking, cleaning and delivering milk every single day… but I’ll stop after 5. 😅

Raw milk is something that must be produced and handled very carefully in order to keep it a nutritious, low risk food. The cost isn’t what it is so we can get rich (believe me!!). It costs what it costs because truly that’s what it costs. Without government subsidies and interference throwing things out of whack… oops! I said I wasn’t going to go there. 😂

You get the picture I think. Raw milk is wonderful.
But it’s labor and cost intensive to produce. And I didn’t even include in that list the cost of cows and equipment initially!

I digress.

I know it’s not cheap to buy raw milk and that’s truly one of the reasons we started milking our own cows. We fully understand that our milk is not for everyone but for those who understand and choose us…
Thank you so much! Your support means the world!

And we believe milk cows should have names, not numbers.

Y’all.. meet Rosa! She’s a painted jersey and she is an absolute sweetheart. (Contrary to what social media tells you, not all jerseys are! 😅) She is a great mama to her calf, Maria, and very sweet with our 5 human children, too.

Our little herd here is made up of Jersey and Brown Swiss cows. They all have names and they all have unique personalities.

We can only do that here because we are small. And because we’re not trying to provide milk for all of Texas, just our favorite little part of it.

After all, your granny didn’t milk a cow named #3279, and if she didn’t… we don’t want to either. 🤠🙌🏼🤣
