Unfortunately this illness is why the chicken swaps were cancelled until reconsideration in July!
Luckily we got our Ducks and Chicks to add to the flock early this year and from a private hatchery!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has confirmed a backyard flock detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Pitkin County, Colorado. This finding is the first case of HPAI in domestic poultry in Colorado and confirmed cases can be tracked at ag.colorado.gov/hpai

If you are a backyard flock owner, it’s critical to increase your biosecurity measures by keeping your flock closed (not introducing new birds), decreasing interactions between domestic and wild birds, and keeping feed away from wild birds. Please report any sick or dead birds to the State Veterinarian’s office at 303-869-9130.

Please help out this amazing Rescue!!!

Remember Ferguson? He came to us last summer after being abandoned in an apartment in a fish tank with rocks on the bottom and no food or water. His foot was tied off and we thought it would need amputation, but he fully recovered! However, Fergie has not been able to find a male buddy despite his super sweet disposition with humans. So, now that he’s approaching a year old, we’ve decided to neuter him so he can find his forever family with some ladies. In fact, he has an approved adopter waiting for him with two lady pigs at home!

Our vet bills have reached an all time high these past few months, but we know this is the right decision for Fergie so he can start his happily ever after journey.

Ferguson is being neutered today, and if you’d like to donate to his cause some options are below 😊
