This year’s Cater + Event DICED competition got a little “SASSY.” Our very own Chef Cassandra “Sassy” Portnow was crowned champion, with fellow Footers Chef Caila Byrd earning runner-up.
Chef Sassy’s winning dish, a Spring Bountiful Slaw, wowed the judges with mango and cabbage slaw, fresh spring herbs, heirloom carrots, citrus chicken thigh, and a guava turmeric vinaigrette.
Chef Caila’s standout dish featured shawarma-spiced culotte steak over rich Ful hummus, topped with a vibrant zhug of mango, cherries, cilantro, and green onion, then finished with charred orange, flaky sea salt, and olive oil.
We could not be more proud of these incredible chefs and the creativity they bring to every plate.
