Costco said, “Welcome to aisle 16 — grills, outdoor living, and a small mountain of propane anxiety.” 😂

Look, I’m sure there’s an explanation. They’re probably empty. They probably do this all the time. The employees probably walk past it 40 times a day without even blinking.

But the second I see propane tanks stacked like bowling balls inside a warehouse store, my brain stops shopping and starts doing risk assessment.

You’re standing there with a cart full of groceries, someone’s comparing grill prices, another person is looking for charcoal, and this whole propane pile is just casually sitting there like it owns the aisle.

Hank Hill would either be proud, offended, or already asking who authorized this display.

Would you laugh and keep walking, or side-eye those tanks until you made it safely to the checkout line?

Everybody keeps saying, “Relax, there’s no gas in them,” and okay, maybe that part is true.

But my main concern is not even the propane at this point — it’s the fact that these tanks are stacked up like a game of warehouse Jenga and one bad bump from a cart could turn somebody’s big toe into a medical bill.

You’re just trying to shop for paper towels and a rotisserie chicken, then suddenly you’re calculating tank weight, balance, and how fast you could move if one started rolling.

Maybe I’m dramatic, but “empty” does not automatically mean “won’t hurt when it lands on your foot.”

Be honest… would you worry more about gas, or worry about one of these things taking out your toes?

But my brain still saw a stack of propane tanks inside Costco and immediately switched into emergency broadcast mode.

Logic said, “They’re not filled here.”
Anxiety said, “Okay, but why are we standing next to the propane pyramid?”

I know somebody is going to say it’s normal. I know someone else is already typing, “They’re empty, calm down.” And maybe they’re right.

But for half a second, my survival instincts were not reading the fine print. They were just looking at the tanks, the shelves, the carts, and the people casually shopping like this wasn’t giving off Hank Hill safety inspection energy.

Be honest… would this make you nervous for half a second, or would you walk right past without a thought?

Trying to figure out if I can split my generator tank line and hook up a grill from it too. 🤔

Title pretty much says it, but I’m definitely not pretending to be a gas-line expert. I’m still learning the parts side of things, so I’m not sure exactly what fittings, valves, regulators, or safety pieces would be needed.

In my head it sounds simple: tank feeds generator, add a split, grill hooks up too.

But I also know gas setups are famous for looking simple right up until somebody says, “Yeah, don’t do that unless you know the pressure and regulator setup.”

So before I start buying random fittings and convincing myself I’m handy, I figured I’d ask people who actually know.

What would I need to do this correctly, and what issues am I probably overlooking? Flow problems? Wrong pressure? Needing separate shutoffs? Quick disconnects? Leak testing? Not enough capacity to run both?

Appreciate any advice — even if the advice is “put the wrench down and call somebody.” 😂

Walked into Costco and found the indoor propane skyscraper just casually living in aisle 14. 😂

Apparently they’re empty, but my survival instincts did not receive that memo. My brain said, “Relax, it’s fine.” My body said, “Why are we shopping beside a barbecue tower?”

And the funniest part is everybody else is walking around like this is completely normal. One guy is checking prices, someone else is pushing a cart full of groceries, and I’m standing there doing silent risk assessment like I work for OSHA.

That little orange sign saying “WARNING: STACK RESPONSIBLY. KEEP CLEAR.” did not help either. That sounds less like a warning and more like the opening scene of a viral news clip.

Maybe I’m dramatic. Maybe this is fine. Maybe I’ve watched too many disaster videos.

But tell me the truth… would this make you nervous, or are people overreacting?

My brain immediately said, “They’re probably empty.”

But my anxiety said, “Are we SURE about that?”

Because nothing makes you slow down in the aisle faster than seeing a stack of propane tanks next to people casually shopping for rotisserie chicken, paper towels, and a 12-pack of muffins.

Somebody somewhere is going to say, “Relax, they’re empty.”
And somebody else is already picturing Hank Hill walking in with a clipboard saying, “I need to inspect this propane and propane accessories situation immediately.”

Because this isn’t plumbing anymore, this is modern art sitting on the sidewalk.

Every time I look at it, I find another elbow. Another joint. Another “wait, why does it go that way?” moment. It’s like someone told the plumber, “Make it work, but also make it confusing enough that nobody wants to touch it again.”

The funny part is, you already know somebody is going to say, “Looks good from my house,” while another guy in the comments starts calculating water flow, pressure loss, code issues, and the cost of copper like he’s preparing for court.

All I know is whoever soldered this either had unlimited patience or absolutely no desire to go back to the supply house.

Plumbers, be honest… would you be proud of this, or would you quietly pretend you never saw it?
