🎉 New Hours, No RAD Market (this week ☹️) and maybe we're pirates?

🧐 Some of our more loyal fans will notice there’s a couple changes in our schedule this week… Without many tourists in town, we’re constantly having to rethink what it means to run a small business in downtown Asheville. Things are so hard to predict these days but we’re doing our best to remain consistent while also keeping our costs down.

1️⃣ We couldn’t make it to the RAD Farmer’s Market but don’t worry - we’ll be back again next week and every week we can from there on out. We’ll be seeing all of you again soon!

2️⃣ We’re going to start closing down in the afternoons. Heartbreaking for the tens of you who eat meals from 2-5pm, we know, but even Chai Pani isn’t getting enough people to justify staying open in the afternoons.

❣️ Yes, w're still working on a donation-only basis. It's completely new and somewhat frightening for us but everyone on our team greatly appreciates the generosity we've seen so far. It's been enough to pay them for their time, all the ingredients, and bare overhead costs to keep the truck open since the storm.

🏴‍☠️ One of these days, we may hoist a pirate flag above the truck since we've become freelance pirates on the rough seas of capitalism, but for now, we'll keep navigating these uncharted waters as best we can!

🗓️😅 One month ago today we debated when we'd open after the storm. Didn't think it'd be Sunday at with what little we had after Nir had just finished chainsawing his way down his driveway.

Since then, we've lost count of how many meals we've made for free (probably close to 3k?) thanks to donations from people around the world. England, Greece, Israel, they just keep coming in.

Everyone on the truck is working for us because they lost their job in the flood. Some literally had their workplace swept away in the waters. They're incredible people and we're going to keep paying them living wage, at minimum, for as long as we can afford it.

A month ago we were just yet another food truck in Asheville trying to find our way in the world. Now we're here because the world saw us. We're going to keep reflecting that love and commitment for as long as we can. We see you too and we're eternally grateful

🙏 We didn't think we'd be here but we're doing our best to show up every day for our people. Thank you for supporting us and being a part of that. We're making a statement and we're doing it for our city.

🥙🗓️ We are serving up free meals all over town this week. There are many places to find us and fun events happening all around us...

🐻 First stop is the Market on Haywood Rd

🐓 Then we'll head to the now on Merrimon by the old Stein Mart

🎤 Thursday through Saturday we'll be in the parking lot bringing food to their great events this weekend

🎶 We'll be open late on Friday to feed the hungry people coming to the show to benefit (thank you! 🙏)

🕺 Finally, we will be at the park for ecstatic dance and good times with friends

It's going to be a great week! We are looking forward to seeing all y'all again and as always, meals are 100% free with donations accepted. If you know people in need, send them our way!

🎉 We're back at LaZoom today! 🎉

We'll be open for dinner today at the LaZoom Room no later than 5pm. The bar will be open and hosting All Day Karaoke so come thirsty with a song in your heart!

We're still serving free meals and will be sharing more exciting news about our plans this weekend.

💯 Yalla was inspected this week by Buncombe County & NC inspectors and we passed with flying colors! 💯

Here's what we are doing to make sure our kitchen and food is safe for everyone:

👉 Our water is coming from a verified clean supply by a multi-generational water company based in Blue Springs GA - no contaminated water was ever present on our truck!

👉 The truck is equipped with a propane-powered water heater that heats water to 170+ degrees

👉 Team members are wearing nitrile gloves while working on the truck and change them regularly

👉 Dishes are cleaned daily with extra precautions taken during the day (we are going through a lot of cleaning vinegar!)

Our commitment to providing high quality, healthy food to Asheville hasn't changed and we'll keep everyone updated as the situation develops in the coming weeks and months.
