Field trip! 🎸🍔 🍹
We ventured out of downtown Asheville to visit Twisted Laurel’s sister restaurant, Salt Face Mule. And if Twisted Laurel is the lead singer, Salt Face Mule is definitely the rockstar sibling stealing the spotlight today! 🤘
Named after an old Appalachian expression “Thirsty as a Salt Face Mule” serves up much more than great drinks. We ate delicious food in a welcoming space with plenty of family-friendly fun that makes it worth the drive.
While it’s a little too far outside our downtown footprint to include on our Asheville Food Tours, we couldn’t pass up the chance to celebrate a restaurant that’s part of the Twisted Laurel family. As one of our favorite business partners, we’re always excited to see the creativity, hospitality, and quality they bring to every concept.
The food? Excellent.
The atmosphere? Fantastic.
The family fun? Everywhere you look.

You know him! The MAN! CHEF of working and bringing greatness to the table. Our tour’s always remember him because he loves making people happy with delicious meals and takes time to visit our table. He is a legend around here and we love him!

One of our tour’s favorite rooftop stops, Chef Austin Tisdale and his crew have a culinary symphony running up there at Wildwood Still with stunning views and consistently fresh, beautiful plates…not to mention an impressive bar! Summer is almost here and the menus are here for it! If you’ve never been out to eat with us, make it happen! We look forward to seeing you!

Something has shifted. It felt like something important, something amazing, and something redemptive. There was no question whether the food was going to be great, but there was no way to expect the great hope that was ringing through the building. It was electric. The space is really something that must be experienced. It’s brand new and modern yet honors the roots of their generations. It is cozy but so spacious. A print of the late Anthony Bourdain sits above the chef table where you can reserve a spot and watch the kitchen operating like a royal ball. The addition of their new pastry chef fits perfectly with the espresso & gelato bar “Affogato” that can be visited separately while visiting Historic Biltmore Village . Life is returning to the village. It was something to behold as many chefs, restaurant owners, and community leaders came to celebrate the Anthony Cerrato family and all they do for our community. The high water mark from will be on the wall of Gemelli Restaurant as a reminder of what we can overcome when people with vision and leadership rise after disaster. Salute!!
