Affects of dryness are starting to show up in Morgan County. The first three pics were taken June 15th. The last three were taken today (June 22nd) lack of moisture will hinder plant growth and nutrient uptake. We are impressed how good things look with such limited rain fall; however with continued dryness plant health conditions will get worse. We pray for rain today; but are also thankful for the near perfect growing conditions provided the past 10 years. ❤️✝️

This post isn’t ment for sympathy or personal attention; just to highlight the roller coaster of emotions that farmers in general deal with threw out a growing season. In addition to the extreme volatility in the futures markets; sky rocketing cost of inputs, fuel and labor cost. Mother Nature sent us a curve ball last night. 24 hours ago we were looking at one of the best starts to a crop we have had in years. This morning we are realizing that yesterdays potential was just that. Yield (profit) in these fields was definitely decreased due to high winds in the area. With management and insurance we can help mitigate the financial risk. However; the emotional stress and uncertainty in todays world; the decisions we have to make with limited information or control, truly defines the heart of a farmer. We as a collective endure so much, but keep working to honor God, our families and our heritage.
