Repair or replace?

This split case pump came into our Ashland, VA shop covered in rust and scale after years of hard service. Most people would look at it and start shopping for a new one.

We tore it down instead. The casing, usually the most expensive part of a pump, still had plenty of life left in it. New wear parts, restored clearances, a fresh coating, and it went back to the customer ready to drop into the same footprint with no repiping.

Our shop has refurbished hundreds of pumps, and a lot of them saved the customer significant money over full replacement. When a rebuild is not worth it, we will tell you that too.

A hot oil pump has one of the hardest jobs in the plant.

600°F fluid. Around the clock. And when it stops, the heat stops moving and so does production.

Industrial processes involving high temperature fluids need specialized pump solutions. WEC's hot oil pump offerings are engineered for three things:
Thermal stability. Casings that grow with the heat without pulling the pump out of alignment.

Seal integrity. Air cooled designs, high temperature seals, and sealless mag drive options when zero leakage is the requirement.

Water does not take the day off. Wastewater does not take the day off.

Today, while a lot of the country is at a cookout, operators and maintenance technicians across the country are on shift keeping treatment plants, lift stations, and industrial systems running.

We wanted to take a minute to say thank you to them, and to the plant and facilities managers holding a schedule together with a smaller crew, and to our own field service technicians answering the phone on a holiday weekend because a customer's pump could not wait.

Happy Labor Day, and thank you to everyone keeping things running today.

Some pumps are built for water. Progressive cavity pumps are built for everything water pumps cannot handle.

Thick, abrasive, shear sensitive, high viscosity, full of solids. That is the everyday reality for a lot of the media moving through wastewater plants, food and beverage lines, and industrial processes across the country. A centrifugal pump asked to move that kind of fluid will struggle, wear fast, or fail outright.
