We currently have three plots where we maintain everything from Blueberries, Strawberries, and Blackberries to Goats, Chickens, and Ducks. A couple of photos of the swarm we caught today on a neighboring property. It was about 15 feet up so we had to use some non-OSHA appropriate means of access. Got them relocated into their new home.

The first is a flood table that sprung a leak so we converted it into a planting table and at first we had it in the greenhouse but it gets hot in their plus the sunlight so we moved it outside in the breeze. The second are boot trays for on the table in the greenhouse to protect the wood. They are cheap and durable.

Got out of work before 2nd rain arrives which is just after third winter but yet still prior to the Santa Ana winds. Just enough time to see the girls (bees) working in the dandelion flowers.

There were a lot more but by the time I got the camera, they had started going home in advance of the rains. It’s a living barometer in our backyard.

I love when things go together. We installed four bee colony nucleus today. Two did this pattern where they have a few fanning pheromones while the rest line up and walk into the hive. It’s a good sign of a strong colony.
