Baby dinosaurs! Chicks available. I have 2 frizzled polish, 1 tolbunt, and 1 black (came out of the cuckoo pen so has the barred gene). 3 silkies, 1 paint and 2 different shades if grey. And 6 satins. I can't capture just how pretty these guys are. Mom is a chocolate satin and dad is a red silkie. Straight run. Located in Ashton. Trying to make room in my brooder. Baby dinosaurs! Only the polish is left! But there are more hatching everyday. I have a few chicks available. 3 silkies that hatched within the last week. 3 silkies at just over 3 weeks old. And 1 last buff laced bantam polish also just over 3 weeks old. Straight run. Located in Ashton. PM for more info.

Sad Update: Everything but the big egg hatched. I opened it this morning and there were indeed two babies inside but they weren't alive. It's very rare for a twin egg to hatch. Chicks maneuver a lot when they hatch and when there are two it's difficult for them to get that job done.
So 16 days ago I pulled a massive egg out of one of my pens. Palm-sized. Somebody probably needed an ice pack, poor bum. I also happened to be loading the incubator that afternoon and like any normal crazy chicken person thought, "what the hell," and threw it in. It has developed beautifully. Guess we'll find out soon if we get a twin hatching.

My tolbunt polish grow outs. These are going back into the pens. They turned out gorgeous this year. Such funny babies.

It's a safe bet this whole lot is mad at me right now. Silkies are especially prone to lice and mites because of their fantastic fur-like plumage. If you see any kind of head shaking or scratching I recommend treatment immediately. If you can afford it, Elector PSP is the way to go. I use permethrin. It's more cost effective and still gets the job done. Everybody got a bath today and in two weeks I will treat them again. All bedding is removed and the entire pen, including nesting boxes, are sprayed heavily. Two weeks after the last bath I use ivermectin pour on, just a drop on the neck, under each wing, and above the vent will do. Lice and mites can kill your birds. Do not ignore the signs. It's also a safe bet that after all the flapping and shaking off, I am lice free. Thanx cluckers!
