Last year I got us involved in something I thought might give Kenneth a heart attack. Successful Farming gave our name to a production company hired by John Deere, who wanted a real farm family that is involved at harvest. At first I thought they picked a different farm family, which was fine because Kenneth wasn’t too happy about it. Then they did want us, and I thought it was just a quick half day shoot.
Well, a quick shoot turned into an entire crew from
New York coming for 2 entire days of shooting. They had never been in the country before, let alone on a farm (aside from a huge corporate farm shoot right before ours). We ended up having a great time, becoming friends, and respecting each other’s different worlds. I still keep in touch with the director.
I can’t believe it’s already been a year and time for another harvest, and I’m so thankful we have this special video as a memory of all the fun we have as a farm family.
Thank you to my mom for carting all the kids around and having them camera ready, and to my dad for running our actual combine so Kenneth did not have a literal stroke at having to stop harvest for this. Thank you to John Deere for showing that women have been involved in farming for generations long before us. Also thank you to Sloan Implement Co, I know you guys had to put up with a lot with headquarters for this.
And… no, sadly our field meals are not this fancy. We throw a quilt down and chow- but they are as special.
MAKE SURE TO WATCH UNTIL THE END FOR THE BEST PART ♥️♥️
