Hey friends, it's been a few days since we've made an update and honestly it's only been because juggling everything has been very difficult.
Our big boy is still holding on but he's struggling still. Yesterday he made himself a bed in my closet trying to avoid me and all the pills.
We started a liquid diet since he still isn't eating and he's lost a ton of weight. Due to the lack of caloric intake he's also been losing energy. Fingers crossed this new stuff will help.
He is nearing the end of some of his liver meds but still has over a week of antibiotics.
I had a call with a vet out of Miami to get his feedback on everything and he expressed concern over the high doses of antibiotics he's on. He shared that one of the medications in particular is known for causing huge gastrointestinal issues which is likely why he is still refusing food.
We need to monitor his temp, and get him in for a new round of blood work to see if we can scale back early.
Our mobile vet is recommending another veterinary office and we are trying to get established with them and budget to bring him there.
The funds we have raised so far have been a godsend and we've been able to pay down a chunk of debt at the Veterinary Emergency Hospital from his time spent there so THANK YOU.
I wish I could say we had better news but we are in a bit of a holding pattern as we organize new treatments and costs.
Sharing is a huge help! We are going to keep this open to hopefully hit our large goal which was to cover the $7,000 of costs incurred at the hospital. If we can get there then we can start reallocating funds to these new tests we need.
Thank you all again for being there for Atlas and Safe a Life Animal Rescue. We love this man so much and we want to see him thriving again.
Help us save Atlas. Our beloved rescue pup is in need, and we are asking … Nicole Perezcassar needs your support for Support Atlas's Fight for Life and Health
