Happy 1st birthday to Epona! What a spunky little gal you are! Today I got a chance to get to the farm and take some updated pictures of her! We had a good time trotting around in the round pen and I got to brush her out a little bit before I had to go.

And as yearlings usually go, she is a little lanky but I bet this summer's grass will really do her some good. Happy birthday again, Epona!

A big Happy 34th Birthday to our founding stallion, Justin! I can't believe he's been with us this long and he's still doing relatively well! While he doesn't have much for teeth left, and we think he may be going blind in one eye, he's hanging in there, and we are grateful for every day we have him!

Happy belated birthday, Mira! She turned 22 yesterday and she's doing great (maybe a tad heavy but that's ok). We do have plans to see if we can get one more foal out of her before I retire her from breeding, and if we are successful, we will pair her with Granger this year! Anyways, sorry I was off by a day!

Here's Mira's picture today as she ran away from me because I wanted to take her picture.

Been awhile since I posted about Epona! As many of you remember, she was our one and only foal last year, and we didn't plan any for this year. So we will continue to work with her as she gets older and eventually becomes old enough to ride.

With this being Zephyr's first foal, I'm inclined to keep her, but I also know we can't keep them all, so I am cautiously putting this out there that she may be available to the right home if one comes along, but we aren't in a hurry.

The truth is, we've been thinking about downsizing and slowing down the breeding for quite a while. This decision comes mostly from me not being able to help out on the farm as much as I used to with my own family to care for. My dad does well but he's by himself and it's a lot of work by yourself, as any horse person knows.

So if anyone is interested in Epona, send me a message, otherwise I'll raise her up to be another riding horse for the farm.

I love being able to help out on moving hay days! The horses continue to hold their weight this winter which makes me super happy knowing the chaos of spring won't be so hard on them.

Another day of accomplishments done! While my dad was at work, I took the day off to get a bunch of things done. And even though I couldn't finish my whole list before dark, I'm still happy I got two main goals done: cleaning the whole barn and burning off the burn pit! Also, Epona is looking lovely today!

Today was a pretty busy day on the farm and I feel we got a lot done! The farrier came out and got ALL the horses trimmed up (what a nice day for it!) and then we moved Kristoff back to his winter paddock now that my Dad finished his project and got the ground leveled out and the siding up and the old manure taken out, and then we started weaning Epona from May today, and that is going well too! I mean, as well as weaning can go. We also got some bales moved and other miscellaneous projects done.

As we head into winter, I think we will have a much easier time going into it. Though last year wasn't that bad either.

Picture of Kristoff in his new leveled out pen.

Time for an update! Here's Epona in action from last weekend when I brought my kids to the farm! She's 4 months old now and looking nice! She definitely needs a new halter soon, her current one is on the last notch!

Also, I wanted more pictures of her other side but she just wanted to move in one direction around me lol.
