Our second incubator is officially running!

I was lucky enough to win a giveaway for ½ dozen Silkie hatching eggs from B& T’s MiniFarm�� and I couldn’t resist adding 5 eggs from my own flock. That gives us 11 Silkie eggs tucked safely in the incubator!

Now the countdown begins… 🤞

Because of the feathering in our flock, chicks may hatch with standard Silkie feathering or Frizzle feathering! 🐥🖤 Each hatch is a fun little surprise, and I absolutely love seeing what these babies turn out to be. 🥹

I am SO excited to officially introduce Prim, Hey Hey & Milky Way — the trio behind some of our future Silkie babies here at Niwatori Hatchery! 🐔🤍

🐓 Prim is our handsome rooster, paired with our two beautiful hens, Hey Hey and Milky Way. I seriously cannot wait to watch the babies from this trio hatch, grow, and see what beautiful colors and traits they give us! 😍

What makes this even more special is that I currently have 8 eggs from this trio in the incubator 🥚🐣 and we already have little babies developing and moving around! My first homegrown babies from my own flock. 🥹😭🤍

I’m so excited to officially introduce the newest addition to our flock—Mille Fleur d’Uccles! ❤️🖤✨

These adorable little feather-footed beauties are almost 7 weeks old and growing into such sweet, curious birds. I can’t wait to watch them mature!

Once they begin laying, I’ll be offering:
🥚 Fertile hatching eggs
🐥 Day-old chicks (as hatches become available)

Some babies leave a mark on your heart from the very beginning, and Rotisserie and Easter have definitely done that. 🤍🩶

Rotisserie is settling into the prettiest smoky-blue feathering, with a bold little face and a crest that’s becoming more eye-catching every day. There’s something so striking about this little one, yet the sweetest personality to match.

Easter has developed into the softest creamy buff, with the roundest little crest and the fluffiest tail. Every time I look over, this one seems even more picture-perfect than the day before.

What I love most isn’t just how they’re changing on the outside—it’s who they are. Both of them absolutely adore being held and spend time in my arms every single day. They’ve become such trusting, affectionate little companions, and watching them grow while building that bond has made this hatch extra special. I can’t wait to see the beautiful Silkies they continue to become. ❤️

✨ Silkie Glow-Up Update! ✨🐥

I just had to share how much these little fluff balls have changed already! 💕 Watching Silkies grow is one of my absolute favorite parts of raising them. Every week they surprise me with new feathers, bigger personalities, and those adorable little crests starting to fluff up. 🥹

This little trio is growing into such beautiful birds:
🤍 Our snowy white Silkie is getting fluffier by the day.
🖤 Our blue Silkie is filling out beautifully with rich coloring and feathered feet. Showing more qualities of a Roo!
🩶 Our splash/lavender beauty is showing off gorgeous markings and so much personality.

It’s amazing to look back and see how quickly they’ve gone from tiny peeping chicks to these fluffy little dinosaurs. 🦖➡️🐔

I can’t wait to watch their crests continue to bloom and see how they mature over the next few months. Every hatch is different, and that’s what makes raising Silkies so rewarding!

Our very first hatching journey started with 12 eggs… and a whole lot of hope 🤍

Four of those babies were already in the process of hatching when I received them (some of the dates were a little off), while the other eight were all close in age and began their journey together here with me.

In the end, three sweet chicks made their way into the world—each arriving on their own timeline. One hatched on March 28th, another on April 5th, and our last little fighter began hatching on April 8th. That final baby worked so hard for 34 hours… but sadly didn’t make it. A reminder that even in something so beautiful, there can still be heartbreak.

But through it all, we officially completed our very first hatch 🐣

Meet the babies:
✨ Rotisserie – our little black chick (maybe frizzle, it’s feathers are curling up in some places)
✨ Easter – a soft white/silver/brown beauty, and I’m so excited to see what feather style this one grows into… I’ve never had one quite like this before!

This experience has been such a mix of emotions—learning, patience, joy, and loss—but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

And now… we’re getting everything ready to start another round of hatching soon 🤎
