The black berry is both very versatile as it can be used in many dishes but also a very hardy grower and does very well almost anywhere. Here is one of my favorite.
Black Berry Cobbler:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
For the berry mixture, you will need:
6 cups of washed & drained blackberries, (from Tates berry farm)
2 cups of water
1 1/2 cups of sugar
Pinch of salt
For the topping, you will need:
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of self rising flour
1 cup of milk
1 stick of butter
Bring berry mixture to boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. When berries & juice are done, mixture should be about 32 ounces. Melt butter in a 9x13x2 pan. Mix sugar, flour & milk for topping. Pour over melted butter. Pour in the berry mixture and cook on 350 degrees until crust rises to the top of your pan or turns light brown. Mix 1 teaspoon of sugar and cinnamon. sprinkle on top. Serve with cold vanilla icecream.
Invite your friends over for some sweet southern delight. ENJOY!!
