Senior Spotlight🎓: Supatcha Saengpratoom

Major: Applied Biotechnology

She has been at UGArden for a year and a half, started as an Americorps Food Fellow. Then became a student worker and now does the social media!

Her favorite part of the farm is getting to see things start from seed to harvest and the impact UGArden makes on the community.

Her favorite crop is carrots and zinnias.🥕💐

Supatcha’s favorite piece of farm equipment is the flame weeder. 🔥

Senior Spotlight🎓: Grace Miller

Major: Geography

She has been at UGArden for a year and a half and started as an Americorps Food Fellow. In the fall, she transitioned to be the UGArden Compost Intern through the Office of Sustainability.

Her favorite part of the farm is getting to enjoy the sun, gaining more of a relationship to the food she consumes, and the people!

Her favorite part has been the hands on experience and driving the tractor!!

Her favorite crops are chamomile and carrots.🥕

Major: Horticulture

She was an intern for Summer 2025 and has been a student worker since August 2025!

Her favorite part of UGArden is being able to see her hard work pay off when she gets to harvest crops she planted and finish the day feeling accomplished.
She also loves the amazing community and says UGArden is such an amazing place to work

Her favorite crop to grow is kale!

Faith’s favorite piece of farm equipment she has used is the zero turn mower. She loves it and could be on it every day.

Sapelo Snapshots! 🦪

Recently, our Farm Manager, April, travelled down to Sapelo Island with students learning about the importance of resiliency in agriculture. Students from Spelman College, UGA, and Shell to Shore joined together for a workday and an adventure to explore the vibrant culture of Sapelo.🌊

They assisted SOLO (Save Our Legacy Ourselves) with building a fence to prevent hogs from tearing up Purple Ribbon Sugarcane and weeding the sugarcane.

The highlights include helping bag shells for Shell to Shore’s very first shell deployment and seeing the indigo plants from last year sprouting this year’s growth!🪏
