Good morning from the gap in the apiary fence! (And from Gracie who is nursing twin lambs and is always convinced she is starving…)

Honey is on the website and ready to go! There is a smidge over 200lbs of our favorite flavors I’ve harvested so far. They’re bottled and labeled and ready for you!

In order to avoid overselling- I pulled some inventory for local folks who just stop by. If you’re an online orderer type and your dream honey is sold out, send me a message and I’ll pull from the reserve.

We really appreciate folks who order online and then schedule pickup. It helps us know when we need to drag the dogs in the house and put on pants. And, as always, we’re happy to ship.

Also! This is not all of our honey. We have another 250lbs already harvested and filtered and probably another 200+ still in the hives.

While I’m not totally done with the honey harvest, it is time to start bottling.

First off- Names! I went ahead and drew new names for most of the hives. A lot of the 2024-25 tags were super faded, and there were so many good Queens of Music suggestions. The 2026 queen lineup is as follows!

Bottling- Today and tomorrow I’ll bottle up jars of honey from the hives of Queens Alanis, Senora, Carsie, and Patsy plus a blend of all 4. It’s a couple hundred pounds, so it may take a bit. 😋

The apiary- it is a little wild this year. 14 full sized hives and 2 littles is a lot for me to manage on my own. We will do an on-farm sale, but won’t be doing apiary tours. We got overwhelmed with farm life and haven’t finished the apiary fence repairs. Where once there was a screened in viewing area, now there is a giant 8 foot gap in the fence. 😬

Hello wonderful friends and neighbors! We are getting lots of messages about honey. I understand the allergies. This year has been epic. Most days. I think I can feel the gritty pollen in my teeth.

BUT right now the girls are super busy building up their populations into big strong hives just in time for the nectar flow.

All this pollen=baby bees!

Which means there isn’t honey to harvest, and what is in the hives is being fed to the little ones.

Never fear. Once the sugar maples start blooming (any day now), the nectar flow will begin! The bees will bring in all that spring nectar and make it into honey. I usually do my first harvest and bottling in late May.

As soon as my buzzy girls and I have some spring honey available, I’ll post here and let y’all know.
