We are out at Mt. Pisgah State park today for their maple day. 10 to 1. Stop on out and see what they have to offer!
Well, this 70 degree weather is nice but it's not good for maple production lasting much longer. On a positive note, if you like dark syrup, tonight's your night!
Working the first, second, and third shift today. Gathered sap at 5am, unloaded, went to teach school, date night gathering sap again after school with Tia. Now time for boiling! Make it while you can! 🍁 Oh... and did I mention the sap pump needed fixed and I broke a mirror on the truck?🤦♂️Never a dull moment.
Found some time while the maple sap is froze to go and check out grandpa's lamb crop. Scouting for those Troy Fair lambs!
Well, we dont plow snow on snow days. Yet.... perfect day to stay in and make syrup! Funny, snow was only 10 inches deep on the left side of the sugarhouse but 20 inches on the other side! Anyone living east of us should expect atleast a few inches more of snow than everyone else.😂
First syrup of 2022! Ours on the right compared to grade A Golden Delicate test bottle.
Pretty decent sap run today. Collected about 850 gallons today so far. Ran almost 2000 gallons of sap through our reverse osmosis machine total. Concentrated that sap to about 350 gallons to boil. See all the steps in the photos with a little caption. We'll post some photos of the finished product soon!
Thank you to my dad and Kolan Kennedy for all your help today! Finished installing new section of woods today/tonight. About 1100 taps in. Collected 900 gallons of sap tonight. Hopefully boiling soon!
Tapping started this past Saturday. 🍁 Got about 700 in and hoping for 500 or so more. Thank goodness some of the Frolic Meadow sap tap team is getting older to be such a great help! I think next week we should see some good sap flow to kick off the season. Going to take some time to thaw the trees up. Keep following us to get the latest on our season!
If you need some last minute stocking stuffers or just need a gift for friends and family we have 12 oz and 8 oz Aged Bourbon Barrel Maple Syrup, maple candy, New Hope Mills pancake mix and a limited quantity of quarts and half gallons available. Message or text us directly if you have questions or would like to place an order. Prices in the captions.
We are at the Taste of Fall Event today at Snowcrest Farm from 10 to 6. Ballentine Road Milan, PA. Stop out and visit!
The Blueberry Mountain Farm is OPEN! Stop by and support local agriculture! Top of the mountain off Mile Lane Road.
Maple syrup from our farm, Honey from 4J Hives (Johnson Family).
Schools out, but agricultural education never stops on the farm! Abram is taking on more responsibilities and learning the mechanical side of the farm. Changed fuel filters, oil and oil filters on both tractors.
Found a few other critters that are quite photogenic as well! It's a great start to summer!
Come out to the Arts4All at Riverfront Park till 4 PM and try some tasty samples and visit us and Jelliff's Maple! It will be the sweetest thing you've done all day!!
We are out at the Valley Arts 4 All with Jelliff Maple! Riverfront Park Sayre, PA. Today till 5 and tomorrow 10 to 4. Stop by and see us!
Today is National Ag Day. Thank you to all the hard working individuals and businesses that feed and cloth our families, produce too many products we use every day to list, supply us with the equipment and technology we need, teach our kids, and are a VITAL part of our communities! SUPPORT LOCAL agriculture as much as possible. They are your neighbors! Together, we are the community.
It's a beautiful day on Jolley Lane! Sap's a runnin' and steams a flyin'. We'll be here if you want to stop by!
🍁PA maple weekend is this weekend.🍁 Although we are not officially on the tour list, we will be around the sugarhouse tomorrow afternoon and evening if anyone would like to stop in. Gathered about 2000 gallons of sap tonight and will start boiling tomorrow around 1 pm. Get your syrup hot off the press!
It will be a great day to get out and see the sap run so bring your boots if you want to go to the woods. (Very short walk from the sugarhouse)
Those of you who visited in the fall may want to come and smell the sweetness of spring!
Best run of the year so far! Collected about 2500 gallons of sap since last night. Hope to turn that into about 53 gallons of syrup tonight! Incase your wondering, that's 47.17 gallons of sap to make a gallon of syrup.
Never have I ever....... tapped trees on 3-14. North face tappin'! Thanks to the Pine Top Farm crew for letting us tap your woods and helping out today! Hopefully we can make enough to keep these boys stocked up! We have made about 130 gallons so far this season and our sugar content is averaging around 1.9. Keep an eye out for nights we will be boiling! We'll keep you posted.
1st boil of the season took place tonight! Hopefully many more to come. We will see what mother nature has in store.
Well, it is maple season! 🍁 No boiling yet. The sap has started running, but natures critters have been working on our tubing. Started the day at Athens Township Fire Company👨🚒 chicken bbq, ended it in the moon lit woods searching out leaks in the tubing vacuum system. Thank you Kolan for helping out and the coyotes🐺 for keeping things interesting! 😯
Need to send a shout out to my brother, Jake and our friends Phil, Shauna, and Ryan for braving the snow and getting most of our maple trees tapped yesterday! The snow is very deep in the woods! Up to our waste in some spots! Makes traversing the landscape very hard. Abram and I went back at it after school today. Hopefully will be collecting some sap soon and making that🍁 PA pure liquid deliciousness🍁 for you all to enjoy!
So I wanted to get some sap lines done before it gets buried again. I worked for three hours today. On the way home I saw something that made me say "What the heck!!!??" I had to go down and turn around at Kingsleys sawmill because I knew no one would believe me! The deer in Smithfield know something the weatherman doesn't I think.
What do we miss about the PA Farm Show? Talking to attendees and sharing the story and samples of pure maple products!! So instead of being in Harrisburg this past weekend, we assembled the A Team and started working in the woods to get ready for another maple season! The older and younger generation cleared the limbs while I fixed tubing. We will keep you all up to date as the season progresses!
Good morning from Frolic Meadow Farm! Happy New Year to all! Thought we would send some cuteness to everyone to get our minds off all the negative things. Pickle had a new beef baby boy this morning and we have some twin calves visiting from Black Dog Farm while their barn gets a new roof.
