NEW! Grape-Raspberry Jam. Just made two fresh batches of jam - one plain raspberry and - trying somethine new - a combination of rabpberries and grape juice from our Concord grapes. There is only a slight color difference but a great flavor. $5/jar (half-pint)

SEEDLING UPDATE: We are pretty pleased with the results of this year's seed starting project, especially the warm-weather seeds like peppers, husk cherries, and baby eggplant. All are doing great and have been transplanted to their 4" pots. Spinach, lettuce, and brocolli have already been transplanted to the garden. The leaf lettuce is perky but th e spinach may have bolted too early with the warm weather and the brocolli remains leggy so far. The heat mats and the good potting mix (thanks, ML!) made all the difference.

Have you ever tried to peel a very fresh egg? It's tricky. I used to cut the whole thing in half, shell and all, and scoop it out with a spoon -- until I discovered this foolproof method. It was a game changer! We have these very fresh (an multi-colored!) eggs for sale at Seeds to Weeds Farm - message us for details.

The snow has melted and I finally was able to clean up some herb beds by removing their winter blanket of leaves and mulch. I was happy to discover that catnip is very hardy and winters over in cold weather. Unfortunately. So did the cats!

Here at Seeds to Weeds Farm, we always have a surplus of chicken feed and goat feed bags. Rather than discard them or try to recycle them, I like to make some of them into reusable shopping bags.

The carving season (winter) is coming to an end. Dave did almost as much shoveling as he did carving - over fifty this year!

It takes 40 gallons of sap to make just 1 gallon of maple syrup — no wonder every drop feels like gold! Most of that water has to be slowly evaporated, a process that takes hours and fills the sugar shack with the sweetest aroma. From collecting sap to bottling our DeVellis Drops, we love sharing this tradition with you.
Stop by Seeds to Weeds Farm and taste for yourself!

We cracked open the last jar of peaches from last year's harvest. Dave topped them with some homemade whipped cream from Chase Hill Farm's whipping cream. Forget the pies - we're doing more of THESE. A reeminder of how fresh food from our homestead is worth all the effort!
